logitech-revue

We learned a few weeks ago that a software update would soon be rolling out to the Logitech Revue, finally bringing Honeycomb to the unit. That time has finally come; as posted on the official Logitech blog, the Android 3.1 update is now making its way to Revue units across the country.

Android 3.1 brings a lot of welcome features and enhancements to the Google TV box, including access to the Android Market, improved search and browsing capabilities, a simplified user interface, and improvements to the Logitech Media Player.

To receive the update, you need only ensure that your Revue is on and connected to the web - the update will be rolling out throughout the week, and you'll be prompted to install it once it's available on your device.

htc-flyer-tablet

The European GSM variant of HTC's foray into the tablet world, the Flyer, is currently getting its long-awaited bump up to Honeycomb 3.2.1. The update brings many new features to the tablet, including the latest version of Sense for Tablets with "enhanced internet browsing, mail, calendar, and more all optimized for the 7-inch screen."

The Wi-Fi-only version hasn't been left behind completely, either - HTC states that it will receive its Honeycomb update soon, but no ETA has been given.

While this is definitely a welcome update to the Flyer, it comes shortly after the release of the ICS source code - let's hope that HTC can get the ball rolling and push the 4.0 update a lot quicker than it did with 3.2.x.

Google has released the latest of its monthly Android version distribution charts, and for the first time Android 2.3 Gingerbread is present on over half of all Android devices. A milestone, to be sure.

We also get a look at the end success rate of Honeycomb (a tablet-only version of Android), which achieved a mere 2.5% piece of the Android pie since the first Honeycomb device release back in February. Android 1.5 and 1.6 (Cupcake and Donut) have continued their march toward extinction, commanding only 2.1% of the Android population total. Android 2.2 has remained relatively steady at 35%, but is clearly on the downtrend.

Looking to replace one more of your belongings with your Android device, Time Warner Cable has released an official app, aptly named TWC TV, which allows your Android tablet to become a remote control, and manage your DVR.

Besides controlling your television from anywhere in the house, TWC's app can show you an interactive programming guide (including listings for up to 7 days), view a filtered program guide (which can display favorite channels or HD channels), search for programming, or schedule upcoming DVR recordings.

If you're a TWC customer with a Honeycomb 3.0+ tablet, head to the market, grab the free app, and toss your remote control in the trash.

The app offers access to a slew of different catalog categories, like women's fashion, jewelry, beauty, home, men's fashion, gift, toys, and more. Each category offers several different catalogs to choose from, including some of the most popular names in their respective business.

When I first picked up my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, I didn't see any reason to pick up a Bluetooth keyboard. After all, how could a keyboard improve my tablet experience? After finally giving in and trying out Logitech's Keyboard Case, I was convinced. Bluetooth keyboards seem to make tablets infinitely more productive, and make an extremely handy accessory. The only trouble is, they seem to be rather expensive. Luckily, Best Buy has Logitech's Bluetooth Keyboard for Android 3.0+ tablets on sale for just $39.99.

Logitech's keyboard, which comes with a handy carrying case/tablet stand, is normally priced at $69.99 ($63.99 over at Amazon), making Best Buy's price quite a bargain.
