The Galaxy Nexus GSM On The Play Store Is Now $349, Straight From Google

You thought that the liveblog was the only place news was happening? You thought wrong! Google has quietly updated the Play Store listing for the Galaxy Nexus GSM with a new, slightly lower price: $349. Remember, this is unlocked, off-contract pricing. The new listing page also shows the device running Jelly Bean which Google has promised will come to the Galaxy Nexus by mid July.

The Galaxy Nexus is still one of the best Android devices on the market right now. With official support for Google's newest OS on the fast track, it's only going to get better.

Sprint's HTC EVO 4G LTE Supports Simultaneous Voice And Data Over 3G

The EVO fan blog Good and EVO is reporting that simultaneous voice calling and 3G data (SV-DO) is working on Sprint's HTC EVO 4G LTE. Some of you may be aware that unlike GSM carriers (e.g. AT&T), CDMA carriers (e.g. Sprint) are unable to serve voice and data over 3G simultaneously. So if you were on a CDMA device talking to someone, it would be impossible for you to connect to the internet. Verizon Wireless became one of the first CDMA carriers to offer both voice and data over its 3G networks when it launched the HTC Thunderbolt, early last year.

This device is the international variant, so sorry AT&T T-Mobile users, you'll have to sit this one out if you want 3G.

As the price drops lower and lower, it reaches downright affordable territory. With the Galaxy Nexus available on the Play Store for a mere $400, and the Note here for $459 off-contract just a few months after its initial launch, one can almost start to feel something resembling hope for cheap, contract free phones.

Take the OG Galaxy Tab for example - this little guy was the first Android tablet to hit the scene (running a phone-specific version of the OS, no less). Last week, JBQ from Google released full flashable images of the newly baked Android 4.0.4 (IMM76D) for a few devices - the GSM Galaxy Nexus i9250 yakju and the Nexus S i9020T (soju). The Nexus S release specifically wasn't compatible with the AT&T version (i9020A sojua), but an image for i9020A was promised at a later date. Additionally, builds for the Nexus S 4G on Sprint and other variants as well as the Verizion Galaxy Nexus were to follow.

First, Google unleashed the Android 4.0.4 AOSP code, then followed up by sending out incremental OTA updates to the Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, and XOOM Wi-Fi. [For Real This Time] Samsung Galaxy S II Is Getting A Really Real ICS Update In Some European Markets And Korea Today

The update will "gradually roll out to other markets."
