Vizio Co-Star Now Available For Pre-Order For $99, Ships By August 14th

Google I/O has come and gone with nary a mention of Google TV. Disheartening to say the least, but that doesn't mean that the platform is dead. Not while manufacturers keep making products for it. Products like the Vizio Co-Star. For $99, the Co-Star sits in the right sweet spot for Google TV device pricing. Combine the price with a remote that's smaller than a plank of wood, and OnLive gaming built right in, the little box actually looks like a pretty sweet deal.

Weather Underground Is Now Available For Google TV, Makes You Forget The Weather Channel You've Already Forgotten

Now here's a novel idea! Putting weather information on the television! Weather Underground is now available for the Google TV, bringing a rather nice, simple weather app to the Google TV. The app features a 6-day forecast, hourly forecasts, and maps of your local area with weather information overlaid. It's pretty nifty.

It may not be the most exciting app, but this is the way it should be, shouldn't it?

[Editorial] Google TV Is Bad, And Google Should Feel Bad

Last night, I finally sold my Logitech Revue.

Why? Google's absolute silence on Google TV (GTV) during I/O keynotes represented, as I saw it, the last straw for the platform (at least in its current state). Of course, Google TV hasn't really seen much action since last fall, but after former Google CEO Eric Schmidt promised big, magical things for this summer, it seemed Mountain View might still have some GTV tricks up its sleeves.

The service will be available to all Sirius XM subscribers and include all of Sirus' most popular content, like the ramblings of Howard Stern, "Carlin's Corner" (a channel dedicated specifically to George Carlin), ESPN SportsCenter, and a host of other similar content.

Google TV Site Has Been Completely Overhauled, Shows Off All The New Google TV Hotness

Sony just announced its Internet Player, and Google is continuing the Google TV news with a revamp to its Google TV landing page. The site gives users a brief overview of what the platform does. Most notably, the "How It Works" page explains the distinction between the two types of Google TVs: integrated and what is apparently now known as "buddy box" style.

The site also now lists many of the major Google TV products, which aren't all that numerous.

Sony And Logitech Google TV Devices Receiving Updates Right Now To v.2.1.1 And Honeycomb 3.2 Respectively

Google TV is one of those products that Google tends to forget about most of the year. Today, though, the platform is getting some love as Sony Google TV devices are getting a firmware update to version 2.1.1. Included in the update will be the ability play movies rented via Google Play (about time) as well as watching movies via youtube.com/movies.

Logitech's update, on the other hand, is less straightforward.

Sony And Google Show Off New GoogleTV Box With A Remote That Resembles A Space Shuttle Control Panel

You guys remember Google TV, right? It's the project that every CEO and their mothers stood on a stage with to declare war on Apple's AppleTV hobby? Yeah, those guys have been pretty quiet since about that platform for a while now. Sony, however, got up the nerve to announce a new Google TV box at a special event in Palo Alto. Where "announce" means "say some words near, without actually talking about."

Google Updates The TV & Movies App For Google TV, Adds Personalized Suggestions, More Show Info

Google TV still exists. It's important to be reminded once in a while because, while Google TV promised to be our deliverer from the evil world of crappy cable box interfaces, so far the company has yet to deliver. Today's update to the TV & Movies app, though, is a step in the right direction. For starters, Google has finally done what we've all wanted since there were more than three channels: now you can see what shows are on just your favorite channels on a single screen.
