[Namaste] Google Adds Yoga Poses Cards With Images, Descriptions, Benefits, And Sequencing

I've always been intrigued by Yoga but I never really got into it or figured how to do it. Now might be the time to actually get started, or at least be a little less terrified of getting started with it, thanks to these new Google cards.

When you search for any Yoga pose, whether using the Sanskrit name (like Adho Mukha Svanasana) or the English one (which is Downward Dog), Google will serve you a little detailed information without you even having to go comb through different sites to find it. You get several images showing the pose, a description with the multiple names it's known as in different languages, the muscles it strengthens, and the pose type.

Google Is Testing A New Colorful, Gradient-Based, Cartoonish, And Detailed Weather Card

Google's weather card that shows up when you scroll through Google Now or search for the weather in a certain city is adequately functional. It's white with most text in grey, clickable days, an interactive timeline, and some minimalistic icons in grey, yellow, and blue. What you see above and below is definitely not that card. It seems to be a new design that Google is testing with plenty of modifications, both in looks and functionality.

The new card now expands to fill the entire screen and somewhat transform into a full-fledged weather app. Three tabs let you switch between views for Today, Tomorrow, and the next 10Days.

PSA: Manually Assign Any Coordinates As Your Home Or Work Address In Google Maps And Google Now

Google Now is genius... most of the time. When you first enable it, it takes a couple of days to get started then it figures out where you live, work, go to the gym, and your other favorite places. Then it starts letting you know how long it'll take you to get to those places depending on the time of day and your previous history of travels to that location.

The problem with Google Now's predictions though is that sometimes they can be inaccurate from the start or take a little longer to adapt to change. Moved your home? Switched jobs?

PSA: Google Now Can Read Your Last Five Text Messages Like An Answering Machine And Let You Reply To Them

Google Now can do a lot of interesting things. It surfaces relevant information when you're most likely to need it and answers your questions and requests as efficiently as it can. But one thing it couldn't do before was read text messages aloud to you. Its competitor Siri could, but Google Now was still returning search results when you asked it to show or read your SMS. That has changed, uhm, at some unknown point in the past. Some users report it working for over a month at the very least, others say they tried it last week and it didn't work. Either way, it's a great functionality and we think it's cool to highlight for those of you who haven't tried it before.

Google App v5.6 Beta Adds New Google Now Card To Android Wear, Prepares For Continuous Queries And Eyes-Free TTS [APK Teardown + Download]

Things are heating up for Android Wear lately. Earlier this week, a new version of the Android Wear companion app began rolling out to make preparations for the next OS update. There's now an update to the Google app in the Beta channel which follows up with some interesting changes of its own: a new Wear-specific app that places the Google Now stream into a distinct card on watches. A teardown also shows some interesting new experiments for continuous queries and text-to-speech. There's even a small tweak for the Google Now Launcher.

Google App v5.5 Beta Points To Upcoming Support For Chrome Custom Tabs, Concert Tickets, And New Status Cards [APK Teardown]

The Google app now has its own beta channel, and the first official version dropped last week. Of course there are a number of bug fixes and probably some fine tuning for performance, but no notable features seemed to turn up between the two releases. However, like most other updates, there are new clues about features we've yet to see. This time around, there is evidence of Chrome's Custom Tab feature coming to search results, a new event card for concert tickets, and a pair of new cards for system status toggles.

Google Now On Tap Works Again On Devices Running The Android M Developer Preview

You could say that Google Now on Tab has had an on-again-off-again relationship of sorts with the Android M developer preview. Back when version 5.3 of the Google app rolled out a few weeks ago, it enabled the functionality we saw detailed during Google I/O. If you tried to use Now on Tap a few days after that, it didn't work. Eventually you would see a pop up window saying, "Now on Tap is coming soon! Stay tuned..."

Google Now On Tap In Android M Preview Is Back To Saying 'Coming Soon'

If you've been following the Google Now On Tap saga in recent days, you'll be happy to know we've come full circle. A new version of the Google app last week enabled On Tap for the third dev preview, but it stopped working soon after. Now it's back to displaying a cheerful "coming soon" message. Why do you taunt us, Google?

Google App v5.3 Is Rolling Out To Finally Enable Google Now On Tap For M Preview 3 Devices [APK Download] [Update: Brings Android M UI To Google Now Launcher Too]

Update Wednesday isn't over yet, and this is a big one. Google is rolling out v5.3 of the search app and it enables Google Now On Tap for M preview 3. The app will  install on Android 4.4 and higher, but it won't add On Tap functionality, obviously.
