Google Completely Outdoes Itself With The Google Music Website Tour

Wow.

I don't know what is up with Google and web design today, but hot on the heels of the Android.com revamp comes... this.

I spent the first 5 minutes just hovering over the little colored lines, because the sound is just so cool. Each line plays a musical note; it feels like you're trying to call down the spaceship from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind."

If you can ever pry yourself away from the cool little mouse over noises, you can actually start using the website. It's the standard set of feature explanation videos, but the whole time you are building a song.

Screen Shots Surface Showing What Could Be The Google Music Store – Expect Free Song Of The Day, Recommended Artists, And More

Lending credence to theories that Google's November 16th event may have something to do with the debut of the Google Music Store, a writer at TecnoDroidVe has discovered (what appears to be) a work-in-progress version of the store, accessing it from his HTC Inspire 4G. While it's unclear how exactly Ricardo found his way into the Music Store, the screenshots he was able to recover look very promising.

While the Music Store isn't fully functional (you can't purchase or download songs yet), there is evidence that it will be awesome. For starters, Google has evidently integrated a "Free Song Of The Day" feature, which, as the name implies, offers users a free song each day.

[Rumor] The New York Times Says The Google Music Store Is Almost Ready To Go

Google Music's Music Store is ready to rise from the ashes. The New York Times is claiming Google and the record companies are close to a deal to make the music store a reality. Finally, we will be afforded the privilege of paying the record companies for their music.

If you don't remember, Google Music was originally slated to launch with a music store when it came out 5 months ago, but the deals fell through. Google resorted to launching a "music locker," which allowed you to upload songs from your computer to cloud storage, and then stream the music to your devices or a browser.

I want to say up front that I don’t have much faith in this. In fact, I only agreed to do it if I could clearly indicate how dubious I am in the article. So, I’m opening with a screenshot of just how sketchy this is:

If you haven’t read the article in the image (which I’m hoping you haven’t), here are the important details (according to the article):

Gaurav Jain, Google Android Product Manager, has said, “Google will combine music download service next version of Android launched for the U.S. holiday season.” [Not bad, Google Translate.]

Awesome, right? We already know that a music service is coming, and hey, the folks at Google always do right by us, don’t they?
