Glu Mobile Plans To Add Gambling (With Real Money) To Games By The End Of Q2, Starting With Deer Hunter Reloaded

Everyone knows that adding a bit of money to a game makes it more interesting. Ubiquitous developer Glu Mobile is putting a lot of faith in that idea, and they plan to roll out a real-world gambling system to their games very soon, starting with Deer Hunter Reloaded. Glu will be using the Skillz platform, allowing players to bet small amounts of real money on the outcome of skill-based games, usually in some kind of tournament or winner-take-all round.

Note the term "skill-based" - that's very important to how this all works. Gambling is an incredibly complex legal issue in the United States, but 37 states allow at least some form of skill-based gambling; that is, the determination of the winner is not primarily based on chance, like roulette.

Glu Mobile's Frontline Commando: D-Day Arrives On Android's Shores For Free (With The Usual Catch)

Last week, we saw a teaser for Glu Mobile's newest game that plays off the horrors of war, Frontline Commando: D-Day. Today, it's landed on Android as a free-to-play cover-based shooter. Touting 145 missions "based on the actual beach landings," the game promises plenty of playtime for your money. What's that you say? The game is free? Well, about that.

In our last article, we mentioned (by way of an overly complicated Nazi analogy wrapped in a ridiculous satirized mockery of Eisenhower's speech to D-Day troops) that Glu said you could turn off in-app purchases. Well, as it turns out, the developer apparently meant via iOS's built-in restrictions.

[New Game] Heroes Of Destiny Looks To Be A Well-Made Action RPG By Glu Mobile... So Hide Your Wallet

Glu Mobile isn't exactly my favorite developer - their in-app purchase / free to play business model ensures that - but there's no denying they've got a lot of talent going into their games. Heroes of Destiny is their latest title on Android - an action RPG of the generic-fantasy-world variety. The visuals aren't spectacular, but they'll by no means disappoint your average mobile gamer, and since this is a Glu game, you can expect near-endless content to trudge through in an attempt to extract precious currency from your bank account.

Gameplay looks to be a rather conspicuous 3D take on the highly popular iOS and Android title Battleheart by Mika Mobile, a game which has since been abandoned on the Play Store.

[New Game] Glu Mobile's Multiplayer Testosterone-Fuelled Bullet Fest, Gun Bros 2, Is Live On The Play Store

If you've been patiently waiting for the sequel to popular top-down shooter Gun Bros, the wait is over. After teasing the release, Glu Mobile posted the game on the Play Store earlier today, giving Android the closest thing it's going to get to Gears of War for the foreseeable future. It's a free download, compatible with Android 2.1 and up, though the more advanced 3D graphics mean that older devices may struggle to run it smoothly.

Aside from the over-the-top wackiness that's permeated the previous games and spinoffs, the big draw for the sequel is built-in multiplayer. The guns themselves het an overhaul, with a triple-modification system and plenty of new weapons.

Glu Mobile Shows Off More Muscle-Bound Meatheads In Gun Bros 2 Trailer

If there was ever a contender for mobile game with the highest mullet to tact ratio, it's Gun Bros. The top-down shooter made a splash when it released on Android in 2011, sitting atop the Market charts for months. Now it's high time for the lads of F.R.A.G.G.E.D. to head back into battle, this time in a full 3D smorgasbord of Arnold-grade action. Glu Mobile has released an early trailer for the game, and while there's no date, it should be enough to thoroughly whet the appetites of the game's current fans.

There's plenty of information to be gleaned from the 75-second trailer: there are more and bigger characters, more and bigger guns, more and bigger enemies...

Review: Glu Mobile's "Indestructible" Is Anything But Bulletproof

In the realm of dual-stick shooters, Android’s offerings seem to be plentiful. However, one company’s name stands out due to their past success: Glu Mobile’s Gun Bros is a franchise that many gamers will recognize. Gun Bros seemed to have it all: an addicting premise, no shortage of customization, and perhaps most importantly, controls that didn’t suck. I’ve played my fair share of Gun Bros, so when Glu announced that they would be releasing a similar title (only this time, with cars!) I couldn’t help but be curious.

Rev Up That Engine…

Indestructible isn’t a concept that feels particularly new: you have a heavily modified car with a number of weapon options, and your goal is to kill enemies before they kill you.

[New Game] Death Dome Pits You Against Hordes Of Mutated Beasties In A Quest To Save The World... Or Something Like That

There was a virus outbreak, and it caused some... issues. Many people were dead within days, but those who weren't killed transformed into beastly creatures. Those who showed signs of contamination were quarantined in the Death Dome, where they grew into "The Behemoths."

That's the premise of the Glu Mobile subsidiary Griptonite's new game, Death Dome. You play the part of Phoenix, a fearless protagonist set on slaying the mutated monsters inside the Dome.

Features:

FIGHT FEARSOME ENEMIES
Battle Larger-than-life Behemoths in a virus-ravaged city

EVOLVING COMBAT!
Learn new skills and techniques as you progress through the game. Use them to take down even tougher enemies!

[New Game] Indestructible By Glu Mobile Is Like Twisted Metal, Only Tiny

During the days of my youth, I loved Twisted Metal for the original PlayStation. When Twisted Metal III came out, my mind was blown. I just loved smashing cars with other cars. And guns. And bombs. Then, in 2001, the Twisted Metal series reached the pinnacle of its greatness with Twisted Metal: Black. Sadly, it's all been downhill from there for Mr. Grim and company.

If, like me, you want to relive the glory days of Twisted Metal, then Glu Mobile's new game Indestructible is one of the closest titles I've seen yet. It's like a miniature version of the shoot 'em up title, with some Glu flare thrown in the mix.

[New Game] Glu Mobile's Bombshells: Hell's Belles Has Aerial Dogfights And Femme Fatales

If you long for the sound of a Packard engine sputtering to life inside an aluminum death machine, you'll definitely want to check out Bombshells: Hell's Belles. But don't look for killer gams on the nose art: Glu Mobile's latest offers plenty of eye candy sitting right inside the cockpit. Bombshells is an air combat game in the vein of Crimson Skies or SkyDrift, with a definite slant towards cartoony, arcade-style gameplay rather than simulation. The game is a free download from the Google Play Store, and like most of Glu's offerings, it's supported by in-app purchases.
