Have you heard the news? Caesar is dead. And he's not coming back. Who's going to take over his empire? That's to be decided, and you can throw your name in the hat in Gameloft's new game Total Conquest. By "throw your name in the hat," I actually mean join together with like-minded vigilantes and slay all the naysayers. It's time to build an army and claim what's rightfully yours.

Whether you consider Google's partnership with the KitKat brand a delightful cross-promotional play, a brand sell-out (though officially no money changed hands), or something else entirely, there's no denying both sides have enthusiastically pursued the team-up which promises some lucky winners free Nexus 7 tablets, and Android users the still mysterious Android 4.4 KitKat.

Giving us a break (get it?) from the hype surrounding the next Nexus phone, KitKat recently held a promotion in which contestants need only "have a break" to win a new Nexus 7.

If you've been reading AP for any amount of time longer than, say, six months, then you've probably heard of AnDevCon, the biannual Android Developer Conference. We've been teaming up with the AnDevCon crew since the beginning, and have offered two developers a way into the conference – including all tutorials, workshops, and the like – with every passing event. This time's no different.

This contest is now over.

At this very moment in time, the new Nexus 7 is probably the hottest tablet on the planet. There's a good reason for that, too: Google built on what it started last year with the first gen N7, improving it in almost every way. The new generation has a faster processor, double the RAM, and a higher-resolution display, just to name some of the most obvious changes. Early reviews of the device (worry not, ours is on the way) have praised it almost endlessly, proving that Google really hit the mark with its newest small tablet.

Are you an Android developer who's curious about getting started with the NDK? Or maybe you'd just like to see what C/C++ can do as opposed to Java. Or maybe... there's another reason. I dunno. What I do know, however, is that Packt Publishing's Android Native Development Kit Cookbook ($25/$50) probably has the answer you're looking for.

This contest is now over.

The final results are listed below. If you've won, you will be contacted in the near future.

Andrew Bell is a genius. Or a madman. Or both. Probably both, actually. If you're not familiar with Mr. Bell, you're missing out on some of the best Android paraphernalia memorabilia that you'll find on the net – of course, I'm talking about those awesome Android figurines available exclusively through Dead Zebra. Every Android fan loves those guys.

That's not all Andrew has been up to these days, either. He's been hard at work creating these incredible Android propaganda prints, stylistically designed to replicate those from the 30s/40s.

There comes a time in every smartphone owner's life when upgrading is necessary. Sometimes it's by choice; other times by necessity. Either way, we're usually left with an aging phone we no longer use (or want, in most cases), which gets thrown in a drawer and forgotten. Poor little guys. Let's all take a moment of silence in honor of all the smartphones that have been replaced and thrown to the wayside to be forgotten.
