Gameloft Slashes Prices On Almost All Its Games To $0.99 In Time For The Holidays

Smack in the middle of the holiday season, Gameloft has cut prices on just about all of its paid games in a "Holiday Frenzy." If you've got a couple dollars to spare and some time to kill, Gameloft likely has something you'll enjoy, slicing prices on everything from The Adventures of Tin Tin to Wild Blood down to a mere $0.99. Conspicuously absent from the sale is Modern Combat 4, but the 12 other deals make up for its exclusion (though this writer posits that the game may just be worth its $6.99 price tag).

Gameloft Slashes Wild Blood Down To $0.99 (That's $6 Off)

Wild Blood, the game that challenges players to "live the unforgettable journey of Sir Lancelot" (in a universe where Lancelot incurs King Arthur's wrath by having an affair with Queen Guinevere, leading to the introduction of hellish demons to Earth), got our stamp of approval in October as a great game for "mindlessly slicing monsters to death," but it may have been a hard purchase to justify for some players at a cost of $6.99.

Modern Combat 4 Review: Playing By Big Boy Rules On The Small Screen

Gameloft has carved out a nice little niche for itself by taking popular console games, and tweaking the formula (and title) just enough to get away with it. The Modern Combat series has been presented as the mobile equivalent of Modern Warfare, and it's just reached its 4th incarnation with Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour. Does this formula of console-style play still work on Android?

Gameplay And Story

Modern Combat 4 is a first person shooter that makes heavy use of cinematic elements to tell what we can only hope is a good story.

[New Game] Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour Available Now For $6.99, Still Wants To Be Call Of Duty When It Grows Up [Update x3]

Gather round, armchair SEALs: Gameloft has got another military magnum opus for you. Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour is available now on the Play Store for seven bones, and purports to work with Android 2.3 and up. But since this series tends to push the boundaries of mobile graphical power (if not originality,) you'll probably need a relatively new Android device to run it well. You'll also need a good bit of space - it weighs in at nearly 2GB.

[New Game] Gameloft Launches Heroes Of Order And Chaos – The First 'True' Online Battle Arena Game For Android

Bringing what it calls the first multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game for mobile consoles to Android, Gameloft today released Heroes of Order and Chaos to the Play Store.

The game, a spinoff of the original Order and Chaos, takes place in a "unique fantasy setting" where players will join a battle that's been raging for centuries. It pits teams of three or five players against each other in one of two maps (depending on your party size), combining non-stop arena combat with RPG elements.

[New Game] Gameloft Teams Up With Hasbro To Launch Littlest Pet Shop With An Overdose Of Cute

Gameloft has figured out what's been missing from most of its recent games. No, it's not a business model that relies on something other than in-app purchases. Gameloft just hasn't been bringing enough cute to your phone. Well, they're setting that straight with Littlest Pet Shop, a game so overflowing with cute that you won't be able to resist giggling and clapping your hands like an 8 year-old girl.

Zombiewood Review: Please Insert $1.99 To Complete This Title

French developer Gameloft has a complicated and contentious history with Android. Initially the company refused to put its games on Android, then only offered them through its own store before finally getting into the Play Store. Like other devs, Gameloft has started pushing in-app purchases pretty hard, but the games are usually quite high-quality. In this game, you play as a stuntman fighting off the zombie invasion through a number of film sets.

Gameloft's Zombiewood Lands On The Play Store, Releases Your Inner Steven Spielberg/Bruce Campbell

You're clearly not tired of zombies, are you? How could you be? They're the perfect surrogate for people in violent video games. Without worrying about any of the moral consequences, you can shoot, chainsaw, maim, electrify, incinerate, or nominate them for Oscars! Try doing that with a normal human being! In Zombiewood, the carnage takes place in a Hollywood (get it?) backlot, the one place you've always wanted to let loose and break stuff.
