Kemco Debuts English Version Of Aeon Avenger, Offering A Nostalgic RPG Experience Taking Players On An Adventure Through The Past, Present, And Future

Kemco Games, the team behind a slew of popular role-playing games for Android, has introduced the English version of Aeon Avenger today, bringing to market an impressively polished time-travelling RPG. Like Kemco's other RPGs, Aeon Avenger features gameplay reminiscent of old Final Fantasy adventures, and delivers a "story of revenge through time and space."

Aeon's story follows a young man named Lake, whose rural home town is attacked by "the man in black," who also murdered Lake's parents. On his quest for revenge, Lake stumbles into a time-travelling adventure with a young woman named Rean. Aeon challenges players to battle monsters, solve problems, and traverse through environments in the past, present, and future while seeking revenge for the man in black.

Bummer: Remember The Cool Portal Clone For Android? After Significant Progress, It Has Been Killed Off Due To Valve's Legal Disapproval

After a bunch of clever Russian programmers started creating their own Portal for Android last month using the Unity 3D engine and Valve's assets, the news got picked up and spread through the Internet like wildfire. It all seemed too good to be true, but the initial demo was playable, and as I was monitoring the development thread, I saw how quickly progress was being made. The developers were literally recreating the Portal world at a phenomenal pace, and things were looking up.

The cake turned out to be a lie after all, once Valve got wind of the project.

After Weeks Of Waiting (And Many, Many Fakes) Temple Run Will Be Coming To Android On March 27th

Temple Run could possibly be the most anticipated game to come to Android since... well, ever. We've seen fake after fake after fake hit the Android Market in an attempt to garner downloads from unsuspecting folks looking to grab this iOS hit, and the Temple Run team took to its Facebook page to warn users of these fakes and announce that a real version is on its way. Now, we finally have a release date for the real deal, and it's coming on March 27th.

For those unaware, Temple Run is a runner-style game where the player is faced with many obstacles that must be avoided by either jumping over them, sliding under, or moving to one side of the path to avoid them.

Epic Defense Is A Magical Twist On The Tower Defense Genre, Has Way More Than Two Towers

Before you ask, yes, this is another tower defense game, but this one is actually unique enough to merit a mention. Where most tower defense games opt for a linear upgrade path for a set of towers, all purchased from money accumulated by killing enemies, Epic Defense uses a less linear and more experimental approach.

Instead of having an array of towers you can purchase for various prices, you're given a set of blank, featureless towers. Each basic tower has no weapons of its own, but is granted unique abilities by adding three gems to the tower. You have a bank of red, yellow, and blue gems.

Kairosoft Releases "Dungeon Village" In Typical 16-Bit Fashion, But With New Quasi-RPG Goodness

If you've ever taken a look at the top Android games (or if you just follow Android news closely), you've almost certainly heard of Kairosoft before. They're the developer behind major hits like Game Dev Story and Grand Prix story. Now the company is back with a new title: Dungeon Village.

The game looks quite similar to the other titles, but they seem to think it has a bit of an RPG flair to it (though we can't figure out how):

Bringing a rocket-powered weasel and challenging puzzle action to the palm of your hand, Freeze Tag Games recently introduced Rocket Weasel to the Android Market.

The game follows the story of Mr. Weasel, leader of "Weasel's School for Hunting Chickens," who takes his students on a late night field trip to a hen house. In a wild twist of fate, the farmer traps Weasel's students in surprisingly sophisticated hanging cages, leaving Mr. Weasel to rescue them while also capturing up to three chickens per level. The game is your basic trajectory-based puzzler, requiring players to carefully calculate direction and magnitude to blast through each cage.

[New Game] Shogun Rise Of The Renegades Brings "Bullet Hell" To Android With Hours Of Flying Bullets, Sheer Chaos

The developers at int13.net introduced Shogun Rise of the Renegades to the Android Market today, bringing "bullet hell" gameplay reminiscent of Japanese arcade games from the 1990s to the palm of your hand.

For those not in the know, the Japanese sometimes call "bullet hell" style games "danmaku," referring to insane shooters in which players can generally expect most of the screen to be filled with flying bullets.

Shogun definitely delivers on this reputation, providing a continuous stream of chaotic scrolling shooter action. One of Shogun's claims to fame is its dynamic, addictive gameplay - it's easy to get hooked on the manic action and crisp, retro environments offered by Rise of the Renegades, and  the game keeps things interesting with hours of entertainment.

[New Game] OrangePixel Puts Nostalgic Horizontal Shooting Action In Your Hands With Neoteria

OrangePixel (the geniuses behind Meganoid and Stardash) released a new game to the Market today, bringing a retro-inspired side-scrolling shooter to Android with Neoteria.

In the words of OrangePixel, Neoteria is a shmup: a classic horizontal shoot em up. The game relies on a quick thumb, meaning players will need to have plenty of finger strength to shoot through the thousands of aliens and multiple, 80s-inspired environments Neoteria offers.

OrangePixel warns that "100% completion is not for the weak or casual gamer," noting that as players progress, they can unlock new pilots and difficulty modes, or discover hidden worlds.

Besides being a fun, dynamic time waster, Neoteria is optimized for the Xperia PLAY, making its button-mashing gameplay that much more versatile.

[New Game] Arel Wars From Gamevil Combines RPG Action, Real-Time Strategy With Dynamic Environments And Graspable Gameplay

Gamevil released another treat to the Android Market today, introducing Arel Wars – a game that promises "RPG action and defense strategy," and doesn't disappoint.

The game is kind of a cross between tower defense, real-time strategy, and RPG, packing the best of all three into a colorful, spritely world, taking players through 120 levels and across 8 unique maps. Before each match, players must choose their arsenal of powers and minions, which can be upgraded and reproduced throughout each round. To make things a bit more dynamic, each hero specie has its own tactical advantages and individual skills. Winning matches pushes players up the ladder, allowing for upgraded skills and units, which can form almost infinite tactical combinations.

[New Game] Gamelion's Monster Shooter Hits The Market – Shoot Through Thousands Of Aliens Across Multiple Planets, Save A Cat

Gamelion released the highly anticipated dual joystick shooting game Monster Shooter to the Android Market today. The game is a dynamic, quirky shooter that takes players to various alien planets, and gives them a wide arsenal of weapons, power ups, missions, and competitive rankings a la OpenFeint.

Monster Shooter puts players in the shoes of an alien named Dum Dum, whose cat has been stolen by an opposing alien race. Following the most reasonable course of action, Dum Dum ventures out with an impressive selection of weaponry, and a bloodthirst that will eliminate heaps of enemy aliens across a ton of levels.
