The First Avengers Initiative Game Finally Goes Live On The Play Store, Launching With $5 Promo Price Tag

It's been a couple months in coming, but the first in an episodic series of Avengers games is live on the Play Store now. In case you've forgotten, this edition features the Hulk, leading the effort to round up a number of supervillains that escaped during a breakout of The Vault. To celebrate the launch, Marvel and NVIDIA are offering the game for a special promo price of $4.99 (normally $6.99).

Owners of Tegra 3 devices will notice some extra effects and battle damage, but the chipset is not strictly required. However, there is a pretty sparse collection of supported devices.

As with most fantasy-based games, you can collect and upgrade equipment to become more efficient at ending the lives of rare, gargantuan reptiles. Each dragon has its own set of skills, magical abilities, and weaknesses to challenge you.

If you've been paying attention to the news cycle lately, you've probably heard that Google—by way of the obscure "Niantic Labs"—released a game of some kind. You saw a trailer that depicted people discovering hidden energy fields within statues, landmarks, and artistic sculptures. You had no idea what was going on. You signed up for an invite anyway, because like any other weird Google product, you want in regardless of what it is. Well, I got my invite a couple days ago, and I'm happy to tell you, it's absolutely worth it.

To say that Ingress is amazing would be an understatement.

Dexter The Game 2 Reveals Its Dark Passenger To The Play Store For $2.99

I hope you've been paying attention to Harry's teachings for the last six years. You're going to need the code if you hope to avoid getting caught in Dexter the Game 2, which has just been released to the Play Store today. We first heard about this one back in July, before season 7 got underway. Now it's more than half over. Right around the time the story starts to lull before ramping back up to the finale. What better time to unleash your own monster?

The free-roaming environment seems like a neat idea, and from the screenshots it looks like many of your favorite locations have been lovingly recreated.

Minecraft Pocket Edition Updates To v0.5, Brings The Nether Reactor, Zombie Pigmen And—Wait, Zombie Pigmen? Awesome!

Minecraft - Pocket Edition may have one of the slowest development timelines around. Of course, the main reason we accept this almost Valve-ian wait is because every time we do get an update, it brings awesome stuff like friggin' Zombie Pigmen. Oh yeah, and the Nether Reactor that summons them, which is exclusive to the Pocket Edition. Heck yes.

The update also brings a few other new features, like paintings and mushroom farming. In addition, several bugs have been fixed. Here's the full changelog for your perusal:

Much of the platforming genre is based on nostalgia: nostalgia for games like Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country or Sonic the Hedgehog. These titles dominated consoles and earned themselves legions of fans along the way. An entire sub-set of mobile games is based around recreating that magic, especially when it comes to gameplay.

Pizza Boy is one of those titles. Its premise is simple, like most games of its type tend to be: you're a pizza delivery boy looking to get a particular pie back from a bird who has stolen it. In order to retrieve it, you'll be traversing a number of levels by running, jumping and throwing bottles as projectiles.

Call Of Duty Elite App Updated To Support Black Ops 2, Just In Time For Your Gaming Bender

Did you hear that Call of Duty: Black Ops II came out yesterday? Really? How could you not? It was in all the ~~papers~~ blogs! Regardless, the game's companion app, Call of Duty ELITE, on Android has been updated to include support for the newest in the CoD series. It's also worth pointing out, after the newest release, Elite has had its premium mode excised in favor of a season pass model.

The companion app allows you to keep track of gameplay statistics, modify your classes, and join or manage clans via Clan HQ. There is also the new addition of Call of Duty Elite TV.

Of course with a new monthly short list of awesome new apps comes a list of the top new games from the preceding month. October saw a lot of game releases, but we've narrowed the field down to just six must-see entries, sure to satisfy the most discerning mobile gamers.

Shadowgun: DeadZone

Back when we first covered Shadowgun: DeadZone's arrival to the Play Store, we already knew Madfinger's latest creation was a hit. Of course it's still in beta mode until the 15th, but it's available for all Android devices running 3.0 and up. Madfinger's multiplayer shooter still isn't perfect, but it already shows a ton of potential, and has already caught on with players.

Angry Birds Star Wars Review: Revenge Of A New Hope Returns Again

Guys did you hear the big news? ~~Leia is a~~ ~~Disney Princess Now~~! Rovio came out with a Star Wars version of Angry Birds! It's got lasers, wookiees, light sabers, and a bunch of other stuff that you remember from those movies you saw growing up that don't seem to bear much resemblance to the newer movies your kids watched. I can feel the conflict within you, though: is this going to be terrible, a bastardization of all my beloved characters, or can I set aside my disdain for everything Lucas and Rovio have done, relax, and enjoy this game?

[New Game] Noodlecake's Pixel Twist Is A Colorful, Relaxing 'Little Zen Exercise'

Inspired by the popular Flash-based puzzler Coign of Vantage by Bobblebrook (which has also been available as an iOS game for some time), Noodlecake has released their latest creation to the Play Store – Pixel Twist.

The game's listing describes it as "a unique little 'zen exercise'," and it undoubtedly lives up to that billing. The goal of the game is simple – rotate a cloud of pixels until it matches a specified image. Each image is a pixelated version of some object like a tree, or an apple, or the moon. At the beginning of each stage, the player is greeted by an ethereal cluster of floating cubes which can then be rotated in any direction to match the image.
