Samsung Galaxy Tab Gets A Traditional Tear-Down, Grudgingly Reveals Weighty Battery Pack [Video]

While many of us would be happy to have any kind of Galaxy Tab at all, there's a certain breed who won't rest until they've eviscerated their latest electronic acquisition for the greater good. One such fellow is Finnish mobility blogger JKK at jkkmobile.com, who took it upon himself to dismantle his shiny new tablet and show its insides to all and sundry.

As you can see in the video, the bulkiest component of the Galaxy Tab is easily its battery, with an impressively large 4000 mAh / 14.8 Wh rating. With a pack that is about a third of the entire device's volume, it's no surprise Google's Tim Bray found the battery life more than adequate.

T-Mobile Launching Samsung Galaxy Tab November 10th For $399.99

T-Mobile's just released a Galaxy Tab-related announcement - and, surprise, surprise - their version of the tablet will be launching November 10th for $399.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. Unlike Verizon, though, you'll be stuck with a two-year data contract during which you'll be paying a "qualifying rate plan," with the only currently visible route out of the plan being a pricey $200 ETF. To add to those nasty fees, you'll also be coughing up $35 upon activation, which doesn't make us too happy. Still, way to go, T-Mobile - you've got the Tab before anyone else. Your move, AT&T.

Rumor: T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy Tab Launching November 10th

Seems like T-Mobile's looking to one-up Verizon on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, both when it comes to pricing and when it comes to the release date.

According to TmoNews' latest "dealer ninja" (the one who conjured the screenshot above), the Tab will be launching on November 10th, one day earlier than the date destined for Big Red's version of the tablet. While the screenie offers nothing in the way of price (other than "TBD"), the rumor mill's been there, done that, and pretty much confirmed that T-Mobile's Tab will be costing you $399 on contract and $649.99 off. Verizon Announces Samsung Galaxy Tab Plans: Nov. 11th Release, $600 Off-Contract

After an agonizing wait, we now know Verizon's plans for the Tab, right from the source itself. The tablet will be available three weeks from now, on the 11th of November, and  the full retail price is to be $599.99 - although VZW has not disclosed any on-contract price. An optional $20/mo 1 GB tariff is alluded to but it is unclear whether or not this will bring with it a discount to the Tab's sticker price. If the MiFi iPad plan is any indication, this $20 monthly option may be a rolling 30 day contract without any device subsidy, but that is wait-and-see right now.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Announced In Germany For €730 Off Contract, €300 + €35 On A Monthly Contract

While Samsung's much anticipated 7-incher is still yet to arrive on a carrier in the USA, availability is spreading throughout Europe. Today, Vodafone Germany posted its prices for the Galaxy Tab, and they're looking pretty steep. For the proposed €729.90 ($1015), you could get not one but two nicely-specced dualcore netbooks (from Samsung!), which makes me question whether this is simply Samsung exploiting a naïve and nascent market; a price bubble which is set to burst shortly.

The on-contract price of €299.90 is also difficult to justify. The €35 "Notebook" tariff does not appear to include any voice minutes, despite the European Galaxy Tab's phone capabilities.

T-Mobile To Launch Samsung Galaxy Tab For $399 On Contract/$649 Off? Does It Stand A Chance Against The WiFi/WiFi+3G iPads? [Comparison]

 Earlier this week, BGR leaked a likely $399 on-contract price tag for the Sprint's version of the upcoming Galaxy Tab. Today, TmoNews dug up some slides showing T-Mobile's version of the tablet coming with the same $399 price tag (on a 2-year contract of course), albeit after a $50 rebate. The version that will free you from the carrier's firm grip will make you part with an additional $250 and cost a whopping $649.99.

Galaxy Tab Vs The iPad

Comparing this to the iPad, where $499 buys you a comparable WiFi-only 16GB version and $629 gets you the WiFi+3G one, the Tab fits kind of in the middle.

In a hilarious display of linguistic differences, the Romanian Samsung Galaxy Tab will ship with an app drawer that looks like this:

If this doesn't make you want a Galaxy Tab, I don't know what will.

In all seriousness, though, the Romanian word for "Start" is "Pornire" and, apparently, gets abbreviated as "Porn" quite regularly. I guess that makes sense, but it's still pretty entertaining in my book. I'm not sure how Samsung is going to feel about it in the long run but,for now, we can get some laughs at the language barrier's expense.

Swedish Carrier Telenor Offering Samsung Galaxy Tab Free On New Two-Year Contract, We Hope US Carriers Will Be As Kind

Lest you were under the impression that the only way to get your hands on one of Samsung's hot new 7-inch Android tablets would involve letting around $1,025 trickle out of your wallet, Telenor Sweden has just unveiled its pre-order page for the Galaxy Tab, which prices the device at the magical price of FREE!

Of course, there are some complications, such as the fact that this deal requires you to sign up for a new two-year contract and that you'll be coughing up 369 SEK (about $55) every month thanks to Telenor's Surfa Bas plan. That may be quite a bit more than AT&T's $25 plan for the iPad, but then again, it's not like AT&T's offering Apple's tablet for free (quite the contrary, the versions with 3G radios are the more expensive ones), and besides, AT&T's offering is capped at 2GB.

10" Samsung Galaxy Tab Coming In First Half Of 2011

SiliconRepublic ran a piece explaining which carriers in Ireland will be selling the Galaxy Tab. At the bottom of the article (the very last sentence), they nonchalantly mention that Samsung country manager Gary Twohig says they'll be releasing a 10" Tablet sometime in the first half of 2011. The only other details included in the article: it will run Android, and rock the V8 JavaScript engine.

Engadget speculates that Samsung may be waiting for Gingerbread or Honeycomb, which certainly sounds like a fair assessment to me. After all, Google recently said that Android 2.x isn't designed with tablets in mind, but Android 3.x would be.
