Samsung Finally Releasing WiFi-Only Galaxy Tab In Q1 2011

Remember back when Samsung first introduced us to the Galaxy Tab, the tablet to save us Android fans from the iPad? They promised that a WiFi-only version would eventually come out for those who didn't want to pay for another data plan.

Well today, Samsung finally announced that it will be coming to the US in the first quarter of 2011. No dates have been given for international releases, but since this is a WiFi device, it should be easy to ship it over from the US for international use.

It will hold 16GB of internal storage and will also include a microSD slot for up to 32 more gigabytes of external storage.

Verizon Now Selling Samsung Galaxy Tab For $499.99, Issuing $100 Refunds To Those Who Bought It Within The Last 14 Days

Costco's been selling Verizon's version of the Galaxy Tab for $499.99 for a while now, but that doesn't make Big Red's latest deal any less exciting. As of today, customers can walk into any Verizon store and pick up a Tab for the aforementioned price of $499.99; only there's another bonus here: the package includes $60 of free movie rentals from Blockbuster or Samsung's own Media Hub. Additionally, if you bought a Galaxy Tab within the last 14 days, the carrier will offer you a $100 refund.

What's your take on the matter - is this proof of Verizon's generosity, a result of underwhelming sales figures, or simply a sign of things to come?

Motorola Teases Honeycomb Tablet, Promises Unveiling At CES 2011

Samsung might have made some cool commercials for the Galaxy Tab, but you and I both know that when it comes to advertisements, Motorola still reigns supreme. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the first promo video for their upcoming Honeycomb tablet is nothing short of epic:

As you can see, Moto thinks it has what it takes to take out both the iPad and the Galaxy Tab - in fact, the video calls the former "a giant iPhone" and accuses the latter of running "Android OS for a phone." Furthermore, tablets of old (i.e. ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic tablets) are ridiculed as having "good graphics" but "difficult portability."

Unfortunately, the video doesn't reveal many new details on the tablet other than confirming that it will run Honeycomb, as evidenced by the bee seen at the end of the video.

US Cellular Cuts Galaxy Tab's Price In Half - Just $199.99 On Contract

US Cellular is really proving itself to be the carrier for holiday shoppers not wanting to spend a small fortune on gifts, isn't it? Just two days after announcing that all phones will be free until the 24th, the carrier's turned its price-cutting gaze to the Samsung Galaxy Tab and lowered the tablet's price to only $199 on contract, half of what it was before.

The only real catch is that you're required to sign up for US Cellular's $54.99/month plan. The plan does buy you 5 GB of data along with tethering capabilities, but I still can't imagine paying almost $60 a month on top of my regular phone bill, especially since messaging is excluded.

Get Sprint's Galaxy Tab $50 Off Black Friday Deal Early During RadioShack's "Shack Friday" (November 21st-24th)

While everyone in the U.S. is awaiting the Black Friday, the largest retail event of the year, RadioShack decided to start the party early and is kicking off its own event called Shack Friday.

Mirroring Best Buy's and Office Max's Black Friday deals, The Shack will be offering Sprint's version of the 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab for $50 off retail, which means you can pick up the device on contract for $349.99. Unlike Best Buy and Office Max, however, The Shack's sale starts early: tomorrow, November 21st and lasts through November 24th.

The promotion does not mention whether the discount will apply to the off-contract $599.99 version, which, frankly, makes a lot more sense to me than having to pay $30 a month for a data plan on contract.

US Cellular, AT&T Announce Their Versions Of The Samsung Galaxy Tab - Former $399 On Contract, Launching November 19; Latter $649 Starting November 21

It all started as a despicable rumor, but now AT&T's charged ahead and made it official - its version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab will indeed cost $649, which is $50 more than the other carriers' versions and $30 more than the cheapest 3G-capable iPad. Disappointing as that may seem, a $50 virtual gift card for Samsung's Media Hub is included, as is a bunch of bloatware nobody wants (sigh). At least you get relatively cheap pay-as-you-go plans - $15 for 200MB of data and $25 for 2GB of it.

On the other hand, US Cellular will also be piping the seven-inch tablet, albeit for $399 on a new two-year contract and $499 off contract, the same as Sprint.

Rumor: AT&T To Launch Samsung Galaxy Tab On November 21 For $649.99 (!)

AT&T isn't exactly known for fair pricing schemes - just take a look at their monthly service plans if you need any evidence of that - but frankly, if this latest rumor proves to be true, they've just crossed the line.

At $649.99, AT&T's Galaxy Tab will be about $20 more expensive than the carrier's 16 GB 3G-capable iPad and $50 less affordable than the off-contract options offered by the three other nationals. Additionally, a November 21st launch date doesn't exactly add value to this package, and the fact that AT&T won't be offering an unlimited data plan of any sort (instead, you'll be coughing up $14.99 per month in return for 250MB of data or $25 per month for 2GB) doesn't help either.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Review Roundup: Android Tablets Still Have A Ways To Go

The rumor mill has already begun rumbling about a possible successor to the current Galaxy Tab, but the Samsung-built gadget has only just come out today, and the (extremely mixed) early reviews have now been published. Reporters from Engadget, Slash Gear, TechRadar, and Gizmodo have all shared their opinions about the device, so join us below for a quick look at each.

Joanna Stern, Engadget's tablet queen, took an in-depth look at Sammy's latest creation, a look which resulted in a final score of 7 out of 10. It wasn't all good, though - she soon discovered that the front-facing camera provided incredibly pixelated results, while its rear cousin was OK with still pictures, but recorded mediocre 720x480 video.
