It seems retailers just can't get rid of the Tab 10.1 - and shrewd consumers are coming out ahead. You can pick up a Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi with 16GB of internal storage for just $450 on eBay (free shipping) sold by DataVision.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is probably the best Android tablet you can spend you hard-earned dollars on at the moment, and at this price (10% off retail), it's certainly not a bad buy.

If you own a Samsung phone or tablet, there's a good chance that you've heard of Kies, Samsung's proprietary synchronization software. If you're also a Mac user, I'd be willing to bet that you're familiar with the frustration of Kies' Windows exclusivity.

Good news, though - the days of booting into Windows just to sync some data or grab an update are over, as Samsung finally released a version of Kies for Mac.

The Acer Iconia A100 - a 7-inch Honeycomb tablet [unlike the 10" A500... makes sense, right? - Aaron]- was originally slated to hit the market in late May/early June, but has been delayed until August/September due to restrictions with Honeycomb on a 7-inch, 1024*600 display. Honeycomb was designed to take advantage of 10 inch, 1280*800 displays, and according to Digitimes, Google is too busy "resolving other issues" to tend to this little debacle, so Acer had no choice but to delay the device.

The official OTA for the GSM version of the original Galaxy Tab just started rolling out, and Chainfire over at the XDA forums has already pulled the update, rooted it, and made it available for your downloading pleasure. There are two different versions of the download - one with a new bootloader and one without. While I didn't read the entire thread, it appears that most users had better luck with the version that includes the bootloader.

Well, we all saw it coming. After giving away phones the past two years (HTC Magic G2 in 2009, HTC Nexus One/Motorola Droid and HTC EVO 4G in 2010), Google I/O attendees will be leaving with shiny new Limited-Edition Samsung Galaxy Tabs. Here's our little (big) guy:

The Tab 10.1 will be available to the masses on June 8, but I/O attendees will be receiving it first. The Tab 10.1 of course will be running Honeycomb (and will be getting the upgrade to 3.1 in a few weeks), have a 10.1'' screen, 1Ghz dual-core processor, and sport 32GB of onboard memory.

We've been able to speak so highly of Samsung lately, considering its timely source code releases and recent device updates, but now this happens. Rumor has it that Sammy has duped owners of the Galaxy Tab WiFi by replacing the CPU with an older version, which in turn required a downgraded graphics processor, too. This is, of course, in comparison to the 3G Galaxy Tab, which was released several months prior to the WiFi version.

Remember the wafer-thin new Galaxy Tab 10.1 we saw at CTIA? Yeah, well, you might have to wait a while longer before you can get your paws on one of those - but if you live in Portugal and you're willing to sacrifice some of that slimness, you'll be able to obtain an ever-so-slightly thicker model called the Galaxy Tab 10.1v starting tomorrow. The tablet will be sold through Vodafone for the price of €589.90 and will be:

  • 10.9mm thick
  • Running on stock Honeycomb
  • Powered by a dual-core 1 GHz Tegra 2 CPU
  • Including an HPSA+ radio
  • Featuring an 8MP rear camera

Vodafone will also be selling the 10.1v in the Netherlands, though they have not yet announced its price there; the only detail we have so far is that it'll launch in "week 17," which should mean sometime before May 1st.

One of the most exciting announcements of this week was, without a doubt, the unveiling of the 2 new super-slim Galaxy Tabs, the 8.9 and the 10.1, at the CTIA Wireless conference in Orlando.

If you followed our live blog from the event, you may have already seen the new Tabs in their on state (none of the new Tabs could be turned on at the event), but still images can only tell half of the story.

8-9 tab estimated

Samsung is doing all they can to release just enough information about the upcoming 8.9" Galaxy Tab to create some buzz ahead of its announcement next week at CTIA. After several promo images surfaced on their Facebook page, they have now released a short video.

As you can see below, the video consists mostly of people (I'm guessing Samsung employees), in micro-edited sound bites, talking about how great something is. Then for the last few seconds you get some nano-edited images flashed across the screen of the upcoming mid-sized slate:

After the last Facebook teaser, an overachieving tipster analyzed the image and estimated the measurements based on the headphone jack.
