A little less than a week ago, Artem shared his thoughts on the keyboard dock for the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Since this was before the official TouchWiz UX (our review) came out, I figured it deserved another go, as the update fixed several issues.
I'm only going to take on the things that were software related issues this go around, as other aspects (like design) have already been covered. Read More
It has been nearly a day since Samsung pushed the TouchWiz UX update to retail Galaxy Tab 10.1 units across the country, and having spent most of the day playing with it, I want to share my thoughts on it with all of you.
Before we get into the details, though, I want to address one important thing: root access. My Tab 10.1 was rooted (stock ROM and kernel) with ClockworkMod recovery before the update started rolling out, so I was naturally hesitant to pull it for fear of losing root privileges. Read More
Samsung's call for amateur promotional Galaxy Tab 10.1 videos attracted many entries so far, most of which have already been posted by the company on YouTube. The winner is still MIA, but if the 4th place that you can see below is all the way down at 4th place, I am definitely looking forward to #1 (though I can't agree with the choices for #2 and #3).
Well done, Sergio A. Read More
To all those who have been [im]patiently waiting for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 OTA to go live, wait no more - the update started rolling out at exactly 12:00am EST. This update brings a whole slew of awesome to the Tab 10.1, including TouchWiz UX and all of its added benefits. I know there are a lot of skeptics out there since this is the first major custom overlay to hit a Honeycomb tablet, but judging from the early reports, it has been very well received. Read More
My favorite Android tablet, the I/O limited edition Galaxy Tab 10.1, received a small update today with version number KG4 (full version: HMJ37.UEKG4 P7510UEKG4). The only new feature the update seems to bring is the Videos/Movies app from Google, which is otherwise not available from the Android Market. Disappointingly, I don't see a new Movies tab in the Market, so literally only the Videos app was added and nothing else. Read More
Two days ago we let you know that the 4G LTE variant of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was set to hit Big Red's sales floor on July 28th for $530 (with a two-year agreement, that is). That day is here, and right on schedule, the LTE Tab 10.1 is ready to go in VZW stores across the country.
Accompanying what is probably the best Android tablet on the market, you'll find a whole slew of accessories to optimize the usefulness and experience of the Tab. Read More
An email just hit our inboxes directly from Samsung, inviting us all to join together in NYC on August 3rd for the official unveiling of a "major software update" for the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
We have known that this update was coming for the past several weeks, but now we can finally lock something a bit more concrete down. According to the above image, onsite Tab 10.1 updates will be open to the public at the event, so I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing a national rollout begin that very same day. Read More

In the past few months, we have been giving away various devices in what I dubbed the "Giant Giveaway" series. Despite having given away 3 tablets (the XOOM, the G-Slate, and the Tab 10.1) already, we're not planning on slowing down; in fact, we're going to accelerate the giveaway process. Rather than keep the giveaways open for 2 weeks, we're going to run them for only about 5-7 days instead, as otherwise our shelves will collapse under the weight of all the goodies and ruin them, and we don't want that, do we? The "Anymode Smart Case" for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been pulled from the market by none other than Samsung itself, due to lack of proper "Designed for Samsung Mobile" certification on Anymode's part. The Smart Case bears a strong resemblance to the iPad 2's Smart Cover, which led to some pretty harsh criticism when it was first released, and probably to its current situation as well. It's worth noting that while the Anymode case may look like Apple's Smart Cover, it doesn't offer the same functionality (i.e. Read More
