Minor Update To Version P7510UEKME Available For The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi

Samsung just started pushing a small, 3.22MB update to the Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab 10.1, most likely to address bugs that were introduced with TouchWiz UX. It's unclear exactly what the update fixes, only that it "improves stability."

I must warn you, though -- I accepted the download on my rooted Tab 10.1 with ClockworkMod recovery, and after the installation was complete, the screen went black (but remained on) and nothing else happened. After waiting for several minutes, I rebooted, only for the same thing to happen again. I was still able to get into ClockworkMod to flash a recent backup, but it was scary nonetheless.

Want A Free Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1? Buy A Qualifying HDTV From Best Buy Starting August 21st

Best Buy will be offering a pretty incredible deal beginning this Sunday, August 21st -- buy a qualifying Samsung HDTV, and you'll score a free 16GB Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Of course, the big question is: what defines "qualifying" in the mind of Best Buy? In order to snag the free Tab 10.1, you must purchase a Samsung 46" LED 1080p Smart 3D HDTV, which will set you back around $1500. If 46" just isn't big enough, the deal is also applicable with a 55" Sammy HDTV, which costs a cool $2000.

While I don't expect anyone to run to Best Buy on Sunday to drop $1500-$2000 just to get a free Tab 10.1, this could be the push that some of you need to grab the HDTV you've been eyeballing for the past few months.

[Giant Giveaway #5] Win A Free Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 From Android Police And Simply Applied

Another week, another giveaway. This time we're giving away a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (16GB, Wi-Fi) courtesy of Simply Applied - developers of the apps Sign and CritiCall.

Sign is a gesture-based texting and dialing application, allowing you to associate a drawn figure with calling or texting a particular contact. CritiCall is another handy app, one that I'm considering buying now that I've taken a look at it. While your phone is on silent mode, it allows phone calls and texts from pre-selected contacts to override silent and play ringtones and notifications normally. This is great for those of us who like turning our phones down at night, particularly if you're expecting a phone call.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 TouchWiz UX Update Halted "To Assess Progress And Ensure It's A Positive Experience"

So, here's a new one: Samsung has apparently halted the TouchWiz UX update for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in order to "assess progress and ensure it's a positive experience for customers." We're not entirely sure what that means on a realistic level, but I'll go out on a limb and assume they found some sort of bug -- possibly one that is making some Tabs unusable by scrambling the graphics.

Naturally, since no real reason was given, we pinged once again to see if we could get more info -- like before, no details.

2011-08-15 14h00_32

At this point, we can only speculate what the issue could be -- but if you're a Tab 10.1 owner that has yet to get the TouchWiz UX update, now you know why.

Logitech Bluetooth Keyboard Case For Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Available For Pre-Order For $99

When most people get a new device of any kind, one of the first things that they start looking for is good accessories. For tablets, some of the more sought after add-ons include keyboards for added functionality and cases to protect the investment, but the brilliant minds over at Logitech decided that it would be much more practical to combine the two with the new keyboard case designed specifically for the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

While we've already taken a look at the official Samsung keyboard for the Tab 10.1 both before and after the TouchWiz UX update, we were still left wanting more -- even going as far as to recommend waiting for the $150 Samsung Bluetooth keyboard/case combo.

Germany Halts Distribution Of Galaxy Tab 10.1 In Europe (Except Netherlands) In Apple Patent Lawsuit Injunction

In a decision with potentially far-reaching consequences, a German court handed down a preliminary injunction halting all distribution of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the European Union today, after a motion was filed by Apple for just such an order.

The suit in question is over nine patents, most of which relate to broad smartphone functions and concepts. The patents are so broad that Apple sued Nokia over them (yes, the exact same nine patents) last year in the same German court, and that suit ended in a settlement widely presumed to be a victory for Apple.

I don't know all that much about German intellectual property law, or the German standard for issuing preliminary injunctions, but I can tell you one thing: this would almost certainly never happen in a U.S.
