Verizon just started pushing Android 4.1.2 to the Galaxy Note II. AT&T will start offering that same update to the original Note tomorrow, May 3rd.

Update: The word on the street is that this update is already available through Kies. Hook up and get it!

While the Android version bump is the same, however, everything else about this one is quite a bit different. Here's what you an expect post-update:

Software update includes

  • Popup note: Allows user to instantly write down directions, phone numbers, and other information while on a call.

It's been a week or so since Samsung decided to release some source code, so I guess it's time for a fix. The company just dropped the Jelly Bean source for the international variant of the original Galaxy Note, which received the 4.1.2 update back in mid-February.

We may be knee-deep in MWC coverage right now, but if you just can't stop thinking about how much you want a Galaxy Note 10.1, eBay's got a deal for you. For $380 with free shipping (taxes only applicable in NJ – sorry guys!), you can score Sammy's stylus-packing ten-incher, brand new in the box – meaning this one's not a refurb.

The Note 10.1 packs all sorts of nice tweaks on the software side that makes Android better on the whole, like multi-window, as well as numerous added functions thanks to the S-Pen.

GALAXY Note 8.0_2

We've seen it leaked a few times, but Samsung has beaten the Mobile World Congress rush and officially unveiled the Galaxy Note 8.0. The device is basically a super-sized version of the Note 2 smartphone, right down to the physical home button (a first for Samsung's post-Android 3.0 tablets), call capability, and vertical orientation.

The screen is an 8-inch 1280x800 panel, and it's unfortunately a TFT LCD - I had been hoping that they would make it Super AMOLED, and create a spiritual successor to the sadly underutilized Galaxy Tab 7.7.

Still toting the original Galaxy Note? Still tired of the saturated colors of TouchWiz and an outdated version of Android? CyanogenMod's download center holds some good news for you, then. The Galaxy Note's AT&T and T-Mobile (US) variants got their first official CyanogenMod 10.1 nightlies today, just under a month after its younger brother, the Galaxy Note II.

Of course, like any other CM10.1 nightlies, these will bring your device closer to a true Android experience, while also offering the enhancements, customization, and features we've grown to expect from the CyanogenMod team.

Looks like it's OTA Monday for T-Mobile! The carrier just updated its support docs for three different handsets – the Galaxy Note, Relay 4G, and Blaze 4G – with details of incoming updates. While the first two devices are just receiving minor security enhancements, the latter is getting a major bump from Gingerbread to ICS. Here's a brief rundown of what to expect from each OTA:

  • Galaxy Note (T879UVMA1) – Security Enhancements
  • Galaxy S Relay 4G (T699UVMA2) – Security Enhancements
  • Galaxy S Blaze 4G (T769UVLF5) – Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Mobile Hotspot Icon location fix, Add Email option fix

For all the Blaze owners out there, this may look all too familiar.

We've been hearing more than a few rumors about a new member of Samsung's popular Galaxy Note series, supposedly due for a Mobile World Congress reveal in February. Italian site DDay.it has posted leaked shots of the device in question, and there's no longer any doubt that the Galaxy Note 8.0 is indeed real. Most interestingly, it's laid out more like a super-sized smartphone than a tablet, breaking from the Galaxy Tab design of the 10.1-inch version from last year.

Samsung's on stage today at CES announcing all the devices (TVs, cameras, smart fridges and microwaves... seriously). Among them is a shiny new LTE version of the Galaxy Note 10.1. No word on how much the unit is going to cost but it will be arriving on Verizon sometime this month.

There's also no word yet on how much the plans will cost, but we can likely expect it will launch with comparable prices to the myriad other LTE tablets with Share Everything plans.

Ever since Samsung released the Note II with awesome new features like Multi-Window and Air View, owners of the original Note have been wondering if they would ever see these enhancements. Considering the Galaxy S III started receiving its Premium Suite update about a week ago, we all assumed that the Note would be next. Samsung has now confirmed that with a new microsite highlighting all of the features of the Jelly Bean Premium Suite for the phablet that started it all.

You know what time it is? Time for more CM 10.1 nightlies! This go around everyone's favorite custom ROM is rolling out for everyone's favorite phablets: the international Note (n7000) and Note II (n7100). The oversized handsets got their first taste of CM10.1 yesterday, and the latest build just hit CM's download site a bit ago.

Definition: A "nightly" is a bleeding edge release that is built on a daily basis, usually at night after a full day's worth of new code has been committed.
