Samsung Canada: Multi-Window Is Coming To The Note II On 'National Carriers' Beginning February 6th

While Samsung may have made quite a splash with its new ad during "the big game" here in the States, its Canadian branch had a pretty big announcement of its own: an update that brings Multi-Window and Chinese language support will be coming to the Galaxy Note II on "national carriers" beginning this Wednesday. By "national carriers," we're assuming that means Canada's big three: Telus, Bell, and Rogers.

For those who may not be familiar with the feature, Multi-Window is Samsung's claim to fame on the Note II, as it's the standout feature that allows users to run multiple apps on the screen at one time.

Watch Seth Rogen And Paul Rudd Hate Each Other For 4 Minutes In Samsung's Extended Superbowl Commercial

Reactions have been mixed to Samsung's somewhat understated Superbowl big game commercial, featuring comedy B-listers Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd. If you couldn't get enough of the pair trading jabs while pitching a meta Galaxy ad, Samsung has posted the full 4:40 cut to YouTube. The ad follows the plot and pacing of the shorter version, but there's a few extra punch lines in there. Just in case ninety seconds of middle-aged verbal jousting wasn't enough for you.

Want a behemoth phone on Verizon, but don't feel like shelling out three-hundred dollars for it? There's only one catch here: this deal is only for the Titanium Gray version of the massive handset.

Ping: Hey Samsung, You Ever Gonna Release That Developer Edition Of The Galaxy Note II?

The year was 2012. A mere two days before the alleged Mayan apocalypse—and about nine days before people stopped making tired old jokes about it—we got wind of the Developer Edition of the Galaxy Note II for Verizon. There were three differences between this handset and the version you could buy in the carrier's stores: it had an unlocked bootloader, it's unsubsidized, and it was not available for sale yet.

[Update: Winner!] Win A Samsung Galaxy Note II (N7100) From Handy Apps And Android Police

When it comes to online safety and passwords, I live and die by a password manager. I use one on my PCs, as well as my Android smartphones and tablets. This way, I always have my passwords with me, and I only have to remember one (to get into the password manager). In fact, I've never even seen some of my passwords when I use a generator.

This contest is now over.

[Update: Sprint's, Too] Verizon Galaxy Note II Gets Its First Official CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightly

When I was a kid, my grandfather used to always say "last to market, last to get official builds of CyanogenMod." Seems the old man's wisdom once again proves to be true, as official CM 10.1 nightlies just showed up for Verizon's variant of the Galaxy Note II.

Update: Looks like Sprint's version of the Note II just got CM10.1, too.

For those of you who own said Note II, this means you can finally get away from Samsung's Playskool-inspired Technicolor UI and experience Android in its natural form.

Leaked Photos Show Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, With Galaxy S III-Style Physical Buttons

We've been hearing more than a few rumors about a new member of Samsung's popular Galaxy Note series, supposedly due for a Mobile World Congress reveal in February. Italian site DDay.it has posted leaked shots of the device in question, and there's no longer any doubt that the Galaxy Note 8.0 is indeed real. Most interestingly, it's laid out more like a super-sized smartphone than a tablet, breaking from the Galaxy Tab design of the 10.1-inch version from last year.

[Deal Alert] Factory Unlocked International Galaxy S III $499 On eBay Daily Deals

Signing a contractual agreement to stick with a carrier for two years so you can get a decent phone without breaking the bank is a downright sham. Thus, many users are bypassing that system altogether by choosing carrier-unlocked phones like the Nexus 4. Of course, the N4 is on hiatus at the moment, so that's kind of out of the question. Don't fret, though – your dreams of a contract-free life aren't lost.

Verizon Pushing A Small Security Patch To The Galaxy Note II, Likely Fixes The 'Exynos Bug'

Note II owners on Big Red, an OTA update is coming your way. Don't get too excited, though – it's just a small security patch that fixes the dreaded Exynos bug. Thus, if it's anything like the Exynos patch for the Galaxy S III, you can also expect a new bootloader. That usually means bad news for the root community (especially when it's a Verizon phone we're talking about), and it's likely no different in this case.

T-Mobile's Galaxy Note II Getting A Bug-Fix OTA, Patches The 'Exynos Exploit'

If you have a stock Note II on T-Mobile, it's time to hit the "check updates" button, because a fix for that nasty Exynos bug is on its way. If you're not familiar with said bug, it basically allowed any app to root and gain full access to any Exynos 4-powered system. And that's a bad thing.

Fortunately, Samsung recognized the issue and started working on a patch almost immediately.
