LG is spreading around a new coat of paint for its Android smartphones in South Korea.

LG G7 ThinQ starts getting Android 10

Rolling out to T-Mobile subscribers in the US

Android 10 is now rolling out for the 2018 LG G7 ThinQ, with reports that it's landing now for some customers on T-Mobile. LG is a bit late to the Android 10 party compared to other flagships of the era, even with that snazzy Software Upgrade Center the company promised all those years ago. But, G7 owners will be happy to see it nonetheless.

Motorola is finally rolling out Android 10 to the Moto G7

The Moto G7 Power won't be far behind, hopefully

Lenovo-owned Motorola used to be king of the budget and mid-range Android handsets, but Nokia phones have overtaken them in recent year, in no small part due to HMD Global's commitment to fast Android updates on even its cheapest phones. The Moto G7 came out a little over a year ago and wasn't exactly the finest entry in the series. It's now finally getting its Android 10 update, at least.

As LG continues to roll out Android 10 to the G8 series and sets its sights on the upcoming G9, now is a lucrative time to pick up some of LG's previous flagship hardware for cheap. Today, you can buy a brand new, factory unlocked LG G7 ThinQ for only 4.99 — the lowest price we've seen — at Amazon.

LG is having a hard time pushing timely software updates even to its flagship range, despite having a dedicated Software Upgrade Center for this exact purpose. The South Korean brand did begin updating a few of its V- and G-series phones to Android 10 in the last couple of months, but not all these releases have yet to see international availability, and many users remain clueless as to when the update notification might pop up on their LG handsets. To smooth their ruffled feathers, LG Italy recently published its Android 10 update roadmap.

Today brings us a discount on the already budget-friendly Moto G7, and now it's available for $180 — the lowest price we've seen yet. Today's deal at Amazon knocks a whopping $120 off the MSRP. During our review, we found the G7 to be a definite improvement over previous models in the G-series, but it also had a higher launch price than any of its predecessors. The G7 features a 6.2 inch 1080 x 2270 LCD screen, a 3,000 mAh battery, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage with the option of expansion via microSD. It's Snapdragon 632 SOC offers decent performance, especially at this price. The battery quick charges over USB-C, and users can unlock the phone using facial recognition or a fingerprint sensor. One notable omission is the lack of NFC in US models. So, while it may be missing some features you'd expect to find in a $300 phone, its current pricing may make the G7 worth another look.

Phones are usually discounted several months after they're released, but the LG G7's price started dropping only two months after it hit the market and continued on the same trend over the past year. The company's 2018 flagship has now hit a new low, as it's now selling for almost half is original MSRP.The handset features a 6.1" 1440p IPS display, a Snapdragon 845 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, dual 16MP rear cameras, an 8MP selfie sensor, and a 3,000mAh battery. It's also water-resistant and has wireless charging, but didn't have any singular features versus the competition to justify its high price when it came out.

We're approaching the spring phone season, so last year's latest and greatest devices are starting to see substantial discounts. Well, the G7 started seeing substantial discounts not long after launch, but now they're more substantial. This phone is down to $429.99 at B&H, which is $100 cheaper than late last year and more than $300 off the launch price.

Thanks to its ARCore SDK, Google made developing augmented reality applications more accessible and streamlined. To guarantee a consistent experience across devices, the Californian giant has put a certification process in place, through which it ensures the camera, motion sensors, and CPU perform as expected. Among the list of officially supported handsets are the LG G7, V30, V35, and V40 series, which offer the same motion tracking as other certified products. Nevertheless, Google acknowledged autofocus is not correctly working on these phones for the time being, although that shouldn't alter the end user's experience.

As we get ready for MWC 2019, let's take a moment to reflect back on the phones of yesteryear and bask in their ever-falling prices. One of the more forgettable ones from 2018 was LG's G7, a capable device on its own merit despite its failure to amaze. Right now, Amazon and B&H are both selling the black model for $479.99, a nice $270 off the MSRP.The G7 ThinQ, as it's properly called, bears a laughably stupid name, but top-tier 2018 specs all the same. The 6.1" QHD+ notched display is large and bright, the Snapdragon 845 powers through any task, and the quad DAC setup is sure to please anyone's ears. It's also unlocked and works on all U.S. carriers. Like most flagship devices, the G7 didn't launch with the most appealing pricetag, but that's what makes deals like this so much better. This is better than the last time we saw this phone go on sale. Again, this deal is only good for the black G7 (though, the silver version is $20 more on B&H). It's not Prime-eligible over on Amazon, but B&H is throwing in a free clear case and free expedited shipping if you go that route. As always, I'll include links to both below.Buy: Amazon, B&H

Last year, LG promised future software updates for its phones would come faster, thanks to its 'Software Upgrade Center'. Unfortunately, that hasn't quite worked out. Almost all of LG's phones are still waiting on an update to Android 9 Pie, which was released in August of last year. The company just announced its timeline for rolling out Pie in its home country of South Korea, and some models won't get it until the end of 2019.

LG's history when it comes to updating phones is not great — so much so, in fact, that the company went out of its way to announce a whole new Software Upgrade Center earlier this year to combat the problem. It's too early to tell if it's making much of a difference, but the company has just announced that the Korean G7 ThinQ will be getting upgraded to Android 9 Pie in Q1 2019.

It may have a stupid name, like all of LG's recent phones, but the G7 ThinQ isn't a bad little device. LG may not be in the position it was a few years ago, but its flagship G-series is still worth looking at, especially if you can get a really good deal on it.B&H is currently offering 0 off the LG G7 ThinQ — it's just $530 and that represents the best price we've seen for it. The same retailer had it down to $570 a month ago, and others such as Amazon and Best Buy are currently selling it at $599, for reference. The $530 gets you a 6.1" QHD+ FullVision display with 1000-nit brightness, a Snapdragon 845 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. The dual cameras on the rear offer solid performance, while quad DACs make for decent audio. For what it's worth, B&H is also throwing in a clear case and glass screen protector to sweeten the deal.

T-Mobile has taken the wraps off of its Black Friday deals. This year, the company is offering the OnePlus 6T, Galaxy S9, and LG G7 ThinQ for "free" (or up to $750 off other phones) with trade-ins of eligible phones and the addition of a new line, as well as some deals on Bluetooth audio products.

The LG G7 ThinQ is a perfectly capable device, but at $749.99, there's really not enough to the phone to make it worth buying over its myriad competitors. Currently, though, B&H has the G7 for a considerable $180 off, bringing its sticker price down to a much more palatable $569.99.

This past week was all about the Pixel 3, and if you're anything like us, right now you're looking to save money any which way you can in order to get your pre-order in for one of Google's latest handsets. Of course, just because you're putting together your Pixel 3 fund doesn't mean you can't drop a little cash elsewhere, and we've spotted a few deals that will hook you up with some desirable tech while also leaving you with money to spare.

The LG G7 ThinQ has a bad name, but it's not a bad phone now that carriers have chopped the price down a little. Over at Verizon, the phone just got an update, and unlike most maintenance updates, this one made a lot of helpful little changes. It's not Pie, but at least it's something.

LG phones probably haven't been getting much love on Project Fi, especially with the introductions of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, so the Google MVNO has decided to spice things up a bit. Both LG flagships are now being offered for $200 off, bringing the G7 down to $549 and the V35 to $699, with $150 free Fi service credit to sweeten the deal. This beats last month's deal out by $50.

Thanks to renders based on factory CAD designs, we're getting our first look at the next incarnation of Lenovo/Moto's popular mid-range smartphone. The Moto G7 isn't due to be launched until 2019, but we now know to expect a new display with a waterdrop notch and curved corners with the fingerprint reader embedded in the 'M' logo on the back (why it took Moto so long to start doing this, I have no idea).

Project Fi has been selling select devices at steep discounts lately. Last month, the carrier offered hundreds of dollars of service credit with the purchase of certain LG phones, or $200 off a Pixel 2 XL. Now there are two new deals, including a deeper price cut on the Pixel 2 XL and sales on LG devices.
