Facebook Rebrands Internet.org As 'Free Basics By Facebook'

Facebook launched Internet.org as a way to get important services and information to people in developing countries even if they lack a data plan on their mobile device. And if they should decide to check Facebook using this free access, all the better. Now, the Internet.org service is being rebranded as Free Basics by Facebook.

Last week we saw that you were able to download Playlist: The Very Best of Ciara for free (you still can, but the way). That deal isn't alone. A slew of similar albums are also available for the same low price of awesome. And they aren't limited to any one genre either.

[Deal Alert] Grab A Free Copy Of The Album 'Play: Blues Pioneers' Courtesy Of Google

Here's another of my favorite kind of deal. Free stuff! Presently you can pick up a digital copy of the album, Play: Blues Pioneers, on the Google Play Store for the delightful price of nothing. It is full of wonderful bluesy songs like, Stormy Night Blues, Hokum Blues, and Blind Pig Blues. I've kindly provided the full list here for your perusal.

Ok, confession time. I have no experience whatsoever with the blues and I've never heard of a single one of these songs, or artists. (Barbecue Bob? That's a real person?) When I think of the blues this is what comes to mind.

[Deal Alert] Get A Free Classical Yo-Yo Ma Album On The Google Play Store

Another week, another free music album on Google Play. This time it's something a little more contemplative: a classical instrumental album from Yo-Yo Ma, probably the best-known concert cellist on the planet. You can grab The Sound of Yo-Yo Ma, which incidentally is exclusive to Google Play Music, for free right now. The deal is available in the United States and probably a few other places, though we can't be sure exactly where it is and isn't valid.

Yo-Yo Ma was born in Paris, and his family moved to New York City when he was five years old. His talent for the cello and other instruments earned him a place at the prestigious Julliard School.

[Update: Official Statement] Many Cerberus Free 'Lifetime' Licenses Are Expiring In A Few Days Because Developers Gotta Eat

Cerberus is one of the more full-featured device security apps available on Android. It has more features than Android Device Manager, and more importantly it existed years before Google's solution. The developer has occasionally offered free lifetime licenses for the app, but now users are seeing that their "lifetime" licenses are set to expire in a few days. What gives?

[Deal Alert] Amazon Is Offering $90 Worth Of Free Apps And Games Including Goat Simulator And Scribblenauts Remix

Amazon is pulling out all the stops to entice you to use its Appstore for Android. True, Google Play is more convenient, but rarely does Google just give away $90 in premium apps and games as Amazon is doing right now. It's a good selection too with titles like Goat Simulator and Elements of Photography.

LastPass Free Is Now Available On Mobile Devices For New Users, But You Have To Pay To Switch From Phones To Tablets Or PCs

Using LastPass on anything more mobile than a PC used to be a perk reserved exclusively for paying customers. We couldn't call it all that much of a luxury, considering that at $12 a year, LastPass Premium costs about as much as a short trip on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. But now you won't even have to pay that much to start managing your passwords on your Android phone or tablet.

Do you have a Chromecast or an Android TV device? Then open up Chrome on your desktop, make sure that you've got the Chromecast extension installed, go to this website, click "redeem all offers," then click the Google Play offer in the upper-left corner. You'll get a free movie rental voucher on your account, which can be applied when you checkout any movie on the Play Store. HD movies are valid as well. Even though the freebie is specifically to promote the Chromecast's second birthday, connecting to an Android TV box will get you the credit too.

This offer is valid in the United States and a few other countries (commenters mentioned Germany, Australia, and France) but doesn't appear to be a worldwide promotion.
