We all love good deals. Amazon loves Android. When you put these two things together, what do you get? A good deal involving Android from Amazon, of course! For this week only, if you buy a new Verizon Android device from Amazon, then you will get a $25 credit for use in the Amazon Appstore. It doesn't matter which device - it could be the Thunderbolt, Droid X, or even the XOOM.

Earlier this week, I dropped a hint on Twitter that we have a few awesome giveaways lined up here at Android Police, and I really wasn't kidding.

To start things off, NVIDIA and Android Police have teamed up to give away a free Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi edition. The dual-core Tegra 2 tablet can be yours - all you have to do is enter by following the rules below.

More great - even better - prizes are coming up shortly, so be sure to keep following Android Police on Twitter, Facebook, and RSS.

After a bunch of relatively uninteresting premium apps given out for free in Amazon's Android Appstore, today's offering is really quite refreshing. Users of the desktop version of Trillian will instantly recognize their beloved multi-network IM client's logo, and those new to it will find its features quite impressive:

  • support for AIM, Facebook, Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, ICQ, and, of course, Google Talk
  • Trillian synchronizes contacts, avatars, statuses, and accounts between Android, Mac, Windows, and Web clients
  • push notifications for those on Android 2.2+
  • multiple chat windows, emoticons, and more

While Trillian is no longer my client of choice on the desktop (Digsby took that spot), I must say that if you're looking for a great multi-network IM client on Android, it's hard to go wrong with this [normally $4.99] offering from Cerulean Studios.

If you head over to T-Mobile's site right now, you'll find the carrier has slashed its entire 4G Android lineup to the low, low price of free on any new two year agreement. Move quick if you want to take advantage of it, though - this sale ends at 3AM PST (April 13).

Could it be? Is Amazon offering another useful app that I actually want to own for the 2nd day in a row? That's pretty much a first so far, with the Shazam Encore/SwiftKey tag team being a close second. What makes today's deal especially valuable is that there is no free version of Wolfram Alpha at all, so combined with 4.7 stars and over 1,800 reviews in the official Market, getting today's free app right away is pretty much a no-brainer.

After a few days of relatively disappointing free premium apps of the day in the Amazon Appstore, today we have a real treat - the Pro version of a photo editing app PicSay. Before I go on, I must note that this is the only photo editing app I actually bought quite a while ago, after playing around with the free version. It's no wonder - the app has 4.8 stars and over 11,000 ratings in the Market.

If this is going to become a regular weekly event, then sign me up. Amazon's 1-premium-app-per-day deal got a bit of a split personality today, just like a week ago, and instead of one, two apps turned free until the clock strikes midnight. The apps, which are actually both games, are:

  • Airport Mania ($0.99 $0), in which you become an air traffic controller and which is rated remarkably high (4.5 stars, 47 reviews)

and

  • Backbreaker Football ($2.99 $0), which is a 3D football crusher with 90 waves, 9 challenges, and 3 difficulty levels

I must say, I like where this is going, though I can't shrug off a feeling that Amazon is just apologizing extra hard for the last 2 days today (the Angry Birds Rio dupe and the Talking Tom Cat were not exactly the crowd's favorites).

If you've ever needed to identify a song that is playing somewhere around you, you've probably already used SoundHound or Shazam which both listen to your surroundings and pop up the best guess - usually right on the money.

The two apps are pretty similar, though they obviously use different algorithms, so I always keep both on my phone just in case. Additionally, SoundHound recognizes humming and whistling, which makes it even more valuable.

That's right, Amazon's offering not one, but two free apps on the Amazon Appstore this morning! You can pick up the popular HeroCraft title Farm Frenzy along with the official Newsweek Mobile app from Amazon free of charge.

I don't know about you - but I can't tell which is which.

Newsweek Mobile offers Amazon's "Test Drive" in-browser emulation, so you can try it from your browser before making the 15 second commitment to put it on your phone.

Without taking a break from yesterday's free Shazam Encore deal, Amazon is continuing its daily giveaway of awesome premium Android apps with another one of our favorites - SwiftKey Keyboard.

SwiftKey normally costs $1.99 in the Android Market ($1.79 in the Amazon Appstore), but for the next 24 hours, U.S. residents will be able to download it to their Digital Lockers for free, thereby claiming it forever. Even if you are not a fan of SwiftKey just yet, there is no reason to pass on this deal if you can get it - just do it now, then think and decide later.
