HomeUX Review: A Fresh, Elegant, And Unique Take On Android Launchers

Coming across a genuinely new launcher interface and paradigm on Android is rare. Most third-party clients try to emulate the default Android launcher and add some customizations and improvements here and there. Not to undermine the power of something like Nova Launcher, but there's only so many times you can swipe left and right between homescreens or tap to open and close an app drawer before you wonder what that new launcher you installed does differently. If you seek the novelty of a new welcoming interface each time you unlock your phone, choices are somewhat more limited especially if you want a reliable and simple app, not one that has been built for the sake of difference more than usability.

Google Stars Appears To Be Back As 'Bookmark Manager' For Chrome

We've been seeing bits and pieces (and fully functional prototypes) of Google Stars for a long time now. The tool, which for now acts as a replacement for Chrome's bookmark manager, has been in development even longer, but it looks like the Chrome extension might finally be ready to roll (assuming it doesn't get pulled again) as Google released "Bookmark Manager" to the Chrome Web Store earlier today.

Despite the new name, the extension takes over chrome://bookmarks just as before, with options to organize bookmarks into folders, give those folders descriptions, and even share folders with others. Of course the interface for adding a bookmark is also updated.

FolderSync Updated To v2.5 With Hamburger Navigation, New Layouts, Expandable Notifications, And Copy.com Support

Cloud storage providers like Dropbox, SugarSync, and Google Drive all have free apps available in the Play Store, but none of these sync up with folders saved on your Android device's internal memory the way their desktop clients do. For that functionality, look no further than FolderSync. This aptly named app can sync folders with over ten different cloud storage services, and version 2.5 adds another option, Copy.com, to the list. This latest update also rolls out a tweaked UI, one that comes complete with a hamburger navigation drawer. Other areas of the app have also seen a UI refresh.

From The Creator Of Tweet Lanes: Chris Lacy's Action Launcher Now In The Play Store

Chris Lacy, developer of the gorgeous, widely lauded Tweet Lanes, has finally brought his latest creation to the Play Store – Action Launcher.

As the name would suggest, Action Launcher is a custom launcher with an emphasis on its ever-present action bar. The action bar allows users to quickly open a side-panel app drawer which, in Lacy's words, "aims to allow you to load any app in one second from your home screen." The bar also features Search and Play Store shortcuts, along with an action overflow.

The action bar, as you can see in the video above, is not the only trick Action Launcher has up its sleeve.

FolderSync Is An Amazingly Powerful Syncing Utility With OCD-Level Controls

Alright, control freaks (otherwise known as "my people"), this one's for you. FolderSync is a fantastic little app we've just discovered that lets users sync folders between local storage and a number of online storage services. The app supports one- or two-way sync and provides a host of settings to tweak the app to all your sync needs.

Sync can be done on a schedule or when a folder changes. The user can also control how the app handles overwriting old files, whether to delete missing files, syncing of subfolders, and even to utilize MD5 checksums when syncing. The app works over 3G/4G, although this is disabled by default to preserve your precious geebees.
