Press Bumped To Version 1.2 With Widgets And More In 'Biggest Update Yet'

Press, arguably the most well-designed Reader client of them all, got a sizeable update today. It's the "biggest update yet," in fact. Climbing up to version number 1.2, Press got some useful new features. Though this update isn't the one with which Press migrates to "a new backend syncing solution" as it is promised to do once Reader takes its final breath, it's definitely an update worth looking at.

First up, Press now has widgets, both large and small. The small one is basically an unread count, while the larger can show top articles from your "all unread" list or a specific subscription list within your account.

Todoist Updated With Widget, Tons Of New Features; Karma Coming Soon

Though you may not know it from looking at the version number, Todoist - the self-proclaimed "ultimate todo list," - got a sizeable upgrade today to 1.0.4. The update brings with it a bevy of new features, a handful of enhancements, and the promise of a new feature called Karma that's already implemented on seven out of the nine platforms Todoist supports.

Among the new features that did make the cut for Android, however, are widgets, a persistent "quick-add notification," new settings, the ability to complete a task by swiping left, a redesigned task list, and initial support for tablets. On the "improvements" side of things, Todoist's latest update brings better accessibility, overall performance, and general UI/UX tweaks, among other things.

Verizon Approves An Update To... The Droid Charge? Face Unlock And A Photo Editor Come To Gingerbread

Verizon is just not letting up on the updates. Which is kind of a crazy thing to say about the carrier. Today's is an oddity, though, as the Droid Charge will be getting a mild upgrade. Yes, really. It's not a huge change, though. Unfortunately, it's not Jelly Bean (or even Ice Cream Sandwich), but it does bring a couple of the features from those platforms, including face unlock and a photo editor.

Since it's not coming with Ice Cream Sandwich, we have to assume that either Verizon or Samsung (more likely the latter) added the features in themselves.

This New Nexus 10 Ad Featuring A Couple Preparing For Their New Baby Is Exactly What Good Marketing Should Be

I am vaguely aware of the iPad. I know that my Galaxy has Google stuff in it and my nerdy friend tells me about his Next Us that is cool. I am the target audience for this new ad for the Nexus 10. Why? Because my friend who reads tech blogs already knows about it and doesn't need to be convinced. I do. And you know what? It's doing a pretty good job of convincing me.

Here is what I've learned watching this video: the Nexus 10 can be shared with my family, is used to post photos online, can read books, watch movies, coordinate calendars, have video chats, and has voice commands.

Chameleon Launcher 2.0 Brings Phone Optimization, Multiple Home Screens, Widget Enhancements To Kickstarter Backers

In a post to its official blog today, the team behind Chameleon Launcher announced version 2.0, which simultaneously hit the Play Store. The update, which is – for now – only available to Kickstarter backers and pre-order customers, brings a handful of popularly requested features. Perhaps the biggest of these is optimization for the small screen. Yes, Chameleon is now specifically optimized to work on your smartphone as well as it does on your tablet.

SugarSync App Moves To Version 4.0 In First Update Since Summer 2012 With New Design And More

Popular cloud syncing and sharing app SugarSync, which promises to give you "all of your data at your fingertips," got a major update today – its first since July 20th, 2012.

Probably the most obvious change is to the app's interface. In the 4.0 update, SugarSync has been totally redesigned to bring it closer to its desktop and web counterparts, adding – among other things – a new gallery with larger thumbnails, thumbnail support for common video formats, and some holo-esque elements.

Besides its visual overhaul, the app has several handy new features. Among them are cloud search (which lets users search across all their computers), the ability to sync folders from your SD card, and some under-the-hood performance/battery life enhancements.

Facebook Pages Manager Updated To Version 1.1 With Post Promotion, Scheduling, Event Creation

Facebook Pages Manager debuted quietly last month, with more widespread availability hitting after several days. Just over a month later, in its first major update (to version 1.1), the fan page management tool has gotten three new features: post promotion, post scheduling, and event creation.

The new features are essentially just what they sound like, and – for all intents and purposes – match their counterparts in Facebook's web interface. Post promotion allows page managers to increase their post's reach to users that may not ordinarily see them, post scheduling lets you compose posts ahead of time or on the go, and event creation…well…allows you to create events.

Carbon For Twitter Update Brings A Laundry List Of Bug Fixes, Adds Quick Mentions And Verified Badges

The long-awaited Carbon for Twitter app landed on the Play Store a few days ago, but some were of the opinion that it wasn't quite finished yet. This happens in software development. Nothing to be worried about. What should cause worry is if problems persist for months or years at a time (*coughGoogleVoicecough*).  On that note, it should be very encouraging that the developers have already rolled out an update that includes a variety of bug fixes.

Apex Launcher Updated To Support Android 4.2, Adds A Few Minor Features Just For Kicks

Apex launcher, following closely behind Nova Launcher, has updated to include support for the Android 4.2 update that's currently rolling out to various Nexus devices. If you like your launchers like you like your anterior corner of a butterfly's wings, you can download the update directly on your device. You'll also get a few new extras, including the option to close the app drawer after launching an app and better icon label handling. Here's the full changelog:
