Notifications have been one of the areas that Android has excelled in since day one. In Jelly Bean, that feature got a boost with the ability to expand a one-line entry, turning it into what is essentially a widget. Quickly happens to be one of the neatest uses we've seen of this new feature. This app creates a persistent notification in your shade that can be expanded to reveal an app launcher.

This app is a first release and the developer notes in the description:

The app was originally meant as a proof of concept, but there was demand, so here!

poweramp-music-player-updated-to-2-0-6-build-505-now-supports-the-htc-one-x-and-brings-action-bars-support-to-honeycomb-and-ics

Poweramp, the popular music player app, has been updated to provide expandable notifications for users running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), as well as a few other improvements.

This latest update allows you to easily control tracks from your system notifications, whilst viewing information about the track currently playing. Also, the notification controls no longer disappear when you pause a track, so you don't have to dive back into the app to continue listening. In addition to this, support for FLV files has been added, and there is improved WAV and WMA support, too.
