Scorching Hot: HTC EVO 4G Now $99.99 On Amazon.com, Free Of Shipping, Activation, And Tax Charges

HTC EVO 4G, our favorite 4.3 incher from Sprint, has revolutionized the mobile industry back in June. However, due to high demand and low stock, it was extremely hard to get at first, and when it did show up in stock, we were still looking at a $199 price tag. Sure, a $10 or $20 discount popped up here and there but no significant deals ever surfaced. Until now.

Amazon.com is offering a brand new EVO 4G for $99.99 to new customers signing up for a 2-year contract.

HTC Launches 4 New Promotional Videos For Desire HD, Desire Z, EVO 4G, And Droid Incredible

The new HTC Desire HD and Desire Z handsets are coming very soon, and we're incredibly excited about both of them (just take a look at that 5-second Fast Boot technology again).

In order to keep our excitement going, HTC just pushed out a new video of these bad boys flying up in the air, showing themselves off in various ways. I even got slight chills a bit at the end but I think it's mostly due to the epic music selection.

Battery Lives Of 8 Flagship Android Phones Tested And Compared - LCD Wins, AMOLED Loses, Droid X Takes Home The Crown

Here’s something to get your teeth into. Over at LaptopMag, a whole host of Androids have been put through their paces in a grueling battery life endurance test. The goal was to keep the phones’ screens on while doing a moderate amount of processing, namely cyclically browsing a collection of web pages. Despite the supposed power savings afforded by AMOLED screens, the phones employing that screen technology fell quite a ways behind in comparison to the traditional LCD phones.

Modder's Column: The Hunt For The Best HTC EVO 4G ROM

Modder's Column, formerly known as Modder’s Monday, is a column dedicated to rooting, hacking, and other forms of modifying Android and is written by Jaroslav Stekl, a man who spends his days coding, hacking, hiking, and of course, writing for Android Police.

As I mentioned in the last edition of Modder's Column, one of my favorite things about Android is how customizable it can be, even for novice users who would rather not spend all day hacking their phone.

Fresh ROM 3.3.0.1 Based On The Latest EVO 4G OTA 3.29.651.5 Now Available For Download

Last night we posted about Flipzmod3's caffeine-fueled rampage on the new OTA update for the HTC EVO. The OTA got rooted really-really fast, and now we have a fully-working, stable ROM based on it.

screen3

Last night, flipz, the author of Fresh ROM, sent out a test version of Fresh ROM 3.3.0 to all the donors/testers, and we did our job well. We nitpicked every tiny little bug, and the result is that tiny little .1 at the end of the public release flipz announced this morning, with fixes for all known bugs.

HTC Desire Z, Desire HD Official; The EVO And G2 Just Landed In Europe

image

In a move only a smart manufacturer could make, HTC has just brought the G2 to European shores, via the Desire Z. Frankly, it's identical to its US cousin, only, you know... in Europe and with an updated version of HTC's Sense UI. In fact, it features the same 800MHz processor, "Z-hinge" slider mechanism, and aluminum body. We're as excited as you.

HTC also announced the Desire HD, which does to the EVO 4G what the Desire Z did to the G2: bring it to European shores, only this time with several styling differences, notably an aluminum body and an HTC logo that lives at the bottom of the device rather than the top.

Welcome to part 2 of my article series centered around getting that precious time between charges of your Android devices to be as long as possible. The EVO comes with a battery containing a similar or maybe slightly larger amount of juice than most phones - 1500mAh.

EVO Owners Benchmark 10 Custom ROMs, 1 Stock ROM

This has got to be one of the most useful things I’ve seen in my tenure here, although I may be biased because I own an EVO. XDA forum member nief1313 is in the (very slow) process of compiling the results of testing and benchmarking a ton of EVO ROMs. When I say a ton, I mean 11:

  1. Stock Froyo
  2. CyanogenMod 6 RC2
  3. DamageControl 3.5
  4. Fresh EVO 3.1.0.1
  5. BakedSnack 1.2.5
  6. Burnt Droid 1.0
  7. EViO 2 Series v1.0.2
  8. EViO 2 Series v1.1
  9. Ava-FroyoV3RevA
  10. OMJ’s v2.1
  11. FroYo Fusion 2.3

Quite the comprehensive list, and a popular one at that: as I write this, there 27 people are viewing the spreadsheet.
