[Updated: It's Back] Android Market Currently Experiencing Downtime - A Sign Of Things To Come?

Update: And it's back, with no noticeable changes. Nonetheless, we'll be sure to let you know if and when Google announces something Market-related - stay tuned!

We don't want to jump to conclusions here, but it's February 2nd - the day of Google's Honeycomb- and "Android ecosystem"-related event, and the Market is currently experiencing downtime. It makes perfect sense given the rumors we've been hearing about an upcoming update to the Market, though it could, of course, be nothing more than scheduled maintenance. We hope we'll find out exactly what this is about later today - whatever it is, we'll keep you updated (pun intended)!

Google To Give An In-Depth Look At Honeycomb, Android Ecosystem News At Event Feb 2nd

Next Wednesday, Google will be holding a press event to showcase Honeycomb and discuss Android at large. Team Android is going to give attendees an "in-depth look" at Honeycomb, news regarding the Android ecosystem, and a number of hands-on opportunities while at Google headquarters in Mountain View.

The presentation will be streamed live at www.youtube.com/android starting at 10AM next Wednesday, so everyone will get a chance to tune in for the latest and greatest in the world of Android and Honeycomb.

Considering this is being labeled a press event, it's probably just an opportunity for Google to give Honeycomb some hands-on exposure to the major media outlets and blogs alike.

Sprint Holding Event On February 7th, Master Illusionist David Blaine Will Be There

As a loyal Sprint customer, I must say - I was disappointed by the carrier's lack of announcements at CES. In fact, the only new phone they introduced was the HTC EVO Shift 4G, which offered little that we haven't already seen in a million other phones. But as it turns out, the nation's third-largest carrier isn't resting on its laurels; it was merely saving the more important announcements for its own event.

Indeed, Sprint has just sent out a handful of invites (see above) for an event on February 7 where "yet another industry first" will be announced. As usual, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse will be there...

In exactly a week, on June 23rd, the 4 giants of the Android world - Motorola, Verizon, Google, and Adobe are set to announce something really great, dubbed "the next generation of Droid" at a special invitation-only press event in New York.

We can only guess what the event will touch on - surely, Droid X and Droid 2 are at the top of the list.

However, noting the presence of Adobe, it makes us wonder whether something much-much bigger is coming, i.e. the announcement of Froyo release dates or at least a promise that the new Droid generation will be running Google's newest 2.2 OS.

There’s been an increasing amount of buzz on the interwebs this week regarding a potential launch of the Samsung Galaxy S here in the United States in the next coming months. Rather than several posts covering each detail, I figured I’d just tie them all into one giant lump of Samsung-y goodness.

First, the facts: We know for sure that Samsung is planning an event in New York City on June 29th centered entirely around the Galaxy S. Cnet’s Bonnie Cha received a package from Samsung hyping the event, which included a set of USB powered speakers shaped like a flying saucer.
