The Galaxy S4 Zoom, Samsung's strange combination of a standard Android phone and a point-and-shoot camera, was a bit of an odd duck. But it seems to have sold enough units that Samsung intends to release a new model, if only to continue their strategy of covering every possible cell phone niche. Photos posted on Baidu show what's claimed to be the "Galaxy K," which certainly seems to be an updated version of the S4 Zoom. Read More

Mega-retailer Amazon has scheduled a press event for Wednesday, April 2nd in New York City. The press invitation teases the event with the phrase, "Please join us for an update on our video business from [Amazon Kindle VP] Peter Larsen." A background with a couch and a bowl of popcorn makes it clear that Amazon's sights are set squarely on the living room.
The Verge is fairly certain that the event heralds an Amazon-branded set-top box, a la Roku or Chromecast. Read More
A few days ago, we posted a rumor we felt pretty confident in that would see "who" added to Google's "when" and "where" options for reminders. We now have another rumor, from a source familiar with the matter, which is also related to Google Now's ever-expanding functionality.
: No matter the confidence level, there's always a chance product updates, features, and some or all details will be changed or cancelled altogether.
Mobile World Congress starts in just under two weeks. As with most of the big mobile shows, Samsung will be doing its own thing with an Unpacked event, which the company already announced last week. For some reason Samsung has decided to issue a second announcement, this time with a tiny bit more information. And lots of fives.
The new invitation image includes nine generic app-style icons, all with a "5" superscript. Read More
Mobile news hounds, you'd better start getting the popcorn ready - Mobile World Congress starts in just over two weeks. Following Samsung's confirmation of their Unpacked event, Motorola has also scheduled a press event for the Barcelona trade show on Tuesday, February 25th.
Then again, maybe popcorn won't be necessary. According to Pocket-Lint, Motorola will have no major announcements to make at the event, which probably means no new mobile hardware at Mobile World Congress. Read More
LG had hardly introduced its new G2 flagship when they mentioned that it would come to the "big four" American carriers, meaning AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint. They're bringing the fight to Samsung in this carrier-driven market. T-Mobile has confirmed the statement in the LG event: there's already a basic website dedicated to the new 5.2-inch Android handset, complete with the compulsory information signup. There's currently no date or price for the phone on any carrier. Read More
Just as expected, Verizon revealed its new family of DROIDs today, courtesy of Motorola. The smallest is (naturally) the DROID MINI, entry-level counterpart to the big daddy Ultra and MAXX, and ostensible sequel to the excellent DROID RAZR M. The phone uses the same Kevlar-wrapped style as the larger phones, with the naturally updated hardware that you'd expect. It launches on August 20th for $99 on-contract, and pre-orders will be live today. Read More
LG would like to let you know that you're perfect, just the way you are. Yes, you. And you, in the back. Not you with the Galaxy S4, though. Their latest posted video from the official LG Mobile YouTube account tells a tale of happy people running around New York City, taking photos and videos of various posters and signs bearing the legend, "To me, you are perfect. From G." Plus, there's a great big numerical "2" at the end. Read More
Ah, the press invitation: the event that sends the wild gadget blogger into a frothing rampage of speculation and anticipation. Our latest guess-fest is provided courtesy of T-Mobile, which sent out press invitations to a July 10th New York City event this afternoon. There's no information on what might be revealed therein, and T-Mobile's typical pink marketing language isn't saying much. The only clue we've got is that it will, in the carrier's own words, include T-Mobile's "boldest moves yet."
Disclaimer: we at Android Police have absolutely no idea what's coming in this little get-together. Read More
