While the world waits for Google's own $200 7" tablet to be announced at Google I/O, CNET is reporting that Amazon may be ready to announce a successor to the wildly popular Kindle Fire this summer. The tech blog reports that Amazon may be preparing for a July 31st launch event to announce the next Kindle-branded tablet.

CNET's sources also point to a built-in camera and physical volume controls among the additions. No word on any other new features, or if Amazon might be upgrading the version of Android that the device is built on. Currently the device runs on a heavily modified version of Gingerbread.

Google announced today that it will be holding a special event on Wednesday, June 6th, regarding the future of Google Maps. Anyone who knows Google knows that these products are huge for the company, ranking right up there with Gmail and Android. More importantly, however, Google Maps is very important to Google's largest competitor: Apple. Which is why, when Google announces an event for one of its last major strongholds on iOS mere days before Apple's WWDC, we take notice.

How Did It Come To This?

It's not hyperbole to call Google Maps a stronghold on iOS, either. Those of you with decent long-term memories will recall that Google Maps was on the original iPhone.

Finally, an end to all rumors about the Galaxy S III and its variants. Or is it? We'll find out at Samsung's launch event, which we're covering live on location in London. My hat's off to Samsung for creating more buzz about this phone than any other company making Android devices has ever made about any Android phone or tablet, all without actually revealing it .

The action starts May 3rd at 11AM PDT, 2PM EDT, 7PM BST (London time) - the live coverage form on this page will automatically update when the wheels are in motion.

In the meantime, sign up for a reminder below - we'll see you back here soon (Note: May 3rd, not 2nd - I'm just giving you a sufficient heads-up).

Samsung Mobile, as part of what has certainly been an epic lead-up to a new flagship so far, released an official Unpacked 2012 companion app to Google's Play Store today, bringing some awesome functionality both to those lucky enough to attend the event and everyone else.

One of the most impressive features of the app is that it allows users to watch the event in real time. This means users can watch the unveiling of the "Next Galaxy" live no matter where they are. The app will also show the new product's details, an official press release, and give helpful venue and transportation maps, as well as a map of London.

While we're still keeping a raised eyebrow on this one, it looks like Samsung has sent out invitations to an event where they'll launch the Galaxy S III. Mark your calendars for May 3rd, and set your time zones for London time. Beyond those two tidbits of information, we have very little else to go on. Just take a look at the invite, sent to Tweakers.net, for yourself:

Unfortunately, we simply have to rely on Tweakers (a very large and established European gadget site) for the date, as it's not a part of the image the site has shared with us.

Team iLuminate, one of the most visually impressive and creative dance troupes who just happened to win be one of the finalists in America's Got Talent last year, recently joined Labrinth in this stunning performance at the Sony Xperia S party. There really isn't much to say here - just watch:

I've been a huge fan of iLuminate, and while this isn't by far their most original performance, it was still quite a treat. Plus, Labrinth isn't so bad either.

As a bonus, here are some videos you absolutely need to watch:

The veil of secrecy surrounding Google's mysterious X lab may be getting pulled back later on today, as evident from new developments around the web in the last couple of days. The X lab, revealed by the New York Times a few months ago, could reportedly have engineers working on projects spanning from plates that post what you're eating on your social networks to driverless cars, robots, and things most of us have never even dreamt of.

Yes, project Majel, a "highly advanced artificial intelligence robot" that has the potential of turning Voice Actions into our own pocketable J.A.R.V.I.S. could very well be part of it too.

It seems that invitees to Google's big not-yet-officially-about-Google-Music-event have just received a second invitation - to the after party. Oh, and Maroon 5, Busta Rhymes, Dirty South, R3hab, and Drake will all be in attendance - and so will we.  We'll be watching the earlier event via livestream along with most everyone else (space is apparently very limited), but Android Police will present for the post-event-event Wednesday night, below. We're excited.

But as awesome as the event's headliners are, we're still more interested in what it is Google and T-Mobile are launching that warrants such a high-profile promotion.

Now, we don't have any inside information regarding what's going to be going down on Wednesday in Los Angeles, but I think I might have a pretty good idea - so, humor me for a minute.

While I was tapping away on my laptop trying to keep up with the Ice Cream Sandwich event earlier today, the desktop machine was happily recording it for future reference. This should hold us over until Google posts the official HD version - the video is about 1 hours long, but almost every minute of it is totally worth it (at least once you get to the juicy ICS bits):

Update: The official HD video has now been posted:

We can finally stop guessing when Ice Cream Sandwich will be revealed to the world in all its glory as Google and Samsung just announced the event would be happening in Hong Kong, October 19th at 10 a.m. HKT, which corresponds to 10 p.m. October 18th EST. As before, the live stream will be available at http://www.youtube.com/Android.

And to that we say, "Bring it!"
