Eugene373 and ChiefzReloaded Strike Again – G1, MT3G, MT3GS Getting FroYo ROM

Man, these guys are good. This is the third time I’m writing about Eugene in the past 2 weeks – first he rooted the MT3GS (June 15), then he rooted the Aria two days after it came out. Now, he and ChiefzReloaded are poised to release FroYo ROM's for the G1, MyTouch 3G, and MyTouch 3G Slide.

Last night Eugene and Chiefz kept us updated via a series of Tweets. While they were hoping to work out all the bugs by the end of the night, they didn’t quite make it and called it quits, and they plan on finishing it up today.

HTC Aria Rooted Two Days After Release, Instructions Are Live

After being out for just two days, the HTC Aria has been rooted. Turns out the method Android hacker and XDA-Devs forum member Eugene373 (you may remember him as the man who also rooted the MyTouch 3G Slide last Tuesday) used to hack the Slide works for the Aria as well.

The full root is a 19-step process, and while it isn’t exceedingly tricky, it isn’t simple either – first time rooters, beware. The root requires a Gold Card, and as with the MT3GS, the process involves booting the phone into recovery and then pushing the update onto the card, loading a .zip, and installing Superuser.
