Do you own an Eee Pad Slider? Time to hit the check update button (if you're in the US, that is), because ASUS just dropped via Twitter that the device is receiving an OTA update to Android 4.0:

As far as I know, that means ASUS's entire line of Android tablets are now running Ice Cream Sandwich (though admittedly, there's only four of them), a track record I'm sure we'd all like to see other tablet manufacturers match (*cough* Samsung *cough*).

[Review] ASUS Eee Pad Slider: Heap Another Honeycomb Tablet Onto The Pile, Albeit One With A Trick Keyboard

When we first saw ASUS' Eee Pad Slider at CES, we very nearly dismissed it at once. It was thick, tablets with physical keyboards showed no sign of gaining popularity, and Honeycomb had yet to come out of the woodwork. Besides, ASUS' own cheaper, slimmer Transformer had already caught our hearts. Our confidence was not raised by the long period of silence that followed - in fact, the only Slider-related posts we've written since January are an unofficial hands-on by a Romanian blog and the announcement of the slate's pricing.

Romanian Blog Goes Hands On With The ASUS Eee Pad Slider, And It Looks Totally Sick

There is little doubt that the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer is one of the hottest Android tablets on the market. Thanks to its hybrid-laptop nature, it's one of the most versatile devices that I've ever seen: it can be what you need when you need it.

When the Transformer was announced, it was accompanied by a similarly unique-yet-convenient device that we've yet to get a good look at: the Eee Pad Slider.

ASUS Announces Eee Pad Slider And Eee Pad Transformer, Mixes Honeycomb Tablets And Physical Keyboards Into One Delicious Mix

If you love the idea behind ASUS' recently announced MeMO tablet but want a physical keyboard, you'll be delighted to know that the company has just announced two more Android tablets in the Eee Pad line - namely, the Slider and the Transformer.

For the most part, the two share the same specs:

  • Honeycomb
  • Tegra 2 processor
  • 512MB RAM, 1GB ROM
  • 10.1" 1280x800 capacitive IPS display
  • 1.2 MP front-facing camera, 5 MP rear
  • Mini HDMI port
  • Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n

However, there are also some key differentiators between the Slider and the Transformer - for example, the former includes a USB 2.0 port, while the latter comes with 16, 32, or 64 GB of eMMC storage (as opposed to the Slider's 16 or 32 GB of flash).
