Tom Clancy's Elite Squad is a new action RPG from Ubisoft, and it's available two days early
Does no one respect release dates?
Ubisoft has revealed Tom Clancy's Elite Squad, a new free-to-play action RPG that will stuff everyone's favorite Clancy characters into a single release. It will play like a strategic military RPG that's based around the lore of popular Ubisoft titles, such as Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, The Division, and Rainbow Six. You'll get to form a team of your favorite Clancy characters to take on a story-driven single-player campaign or face off against your friends in an online PvP battle mode.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition is coming to Android on August 27
Looks like we finally have an official release date
In case you didn't know, E3 is this week, which means a ton of games are getting announced, including those for mobile. At this year's Square Enix presentation the developer informed its fans that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition will be coming to Android and iOS this winter. Last September it was revealed that the title would be coming to the PS4 and the Switch, which has little to do with Android gaming, but the newly-announced smartphone support is indeed a welcome surprise.
Square Enix has announced that Romancing SaGa 3 and SaGa: Scarlet Grace Ambitions will be coming to Android in the West. Both games have never been available with an official English translation, so this will be the first time many get to experience these RPGs. Romancing SaGa 3 will offer a brand-new HD remaster that comes with new dungeons as well as a game+ mode, and SaGa: Scarlet Grace Ambitions will provide an enhanced version of the original title from 2016.
Last year during E3 we learned that Gears of War would be coming to Android with a Funko Pop skin slapped on top, so I suppose it's only right that at this year's E3 Microsoft has officially announced that fans can pre-order Gears POP on the Google Play Store through a new pre-registration listing. This mobile offering has been designed around collecting and upgrading dozens of Gears of War heroes and villains that are displayed in a distinctive Funko Pop style, which does not bode well if you were hoping for a premium release.
Now that E3 is over I thought it might be a good idea to round up all of the Android games announced during the three-day event, so that's exactly what I've done. If you missed out on our gaming coverage this week or would like a recap of what titles are coming to the platform, then get ready to dig into a roundup of every notable Android game presented during E3 2019.
You can say what you want about Google Stadia – the company has the chance to disrupt the gaming industry and make video games more affordable for everyone. And the stars point towards a good launch as a surprisingly large number of AAA game developers jumped on the bandwagon and announced that they're supporting the platform. Now, Google has stated that it's also bringing Ubisoft's brand-new $14.99 subscription service Uplay+ to Stadia in 2020.
Bethesda’s E3 2019 show has revealed the first look at the return of Commander Keen, a platforming series that started its life as a DOS game back in 1990. It was one of id Software’s earliest titles, and its corpse has been resurrected by ZeniMax Online Studios (a subsidiary of ZeniMax Media, Bethesda's parent company) as a free-to-play reinterpretation of the series for mobile. As you can imagine, fans aren't very pleased.
The yearly E3 expo is always a major event for video games, but smartphone games are rarely showcased. Even Fortnite, one of the most popular smartphone games in existence at the moment, only had playable demos of the home console versions. Earlier this week, Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls: Blades for iPhone and Android, and it showed off the game to E3 attendees.
Sony wrapped up the bulk of its E3 conference last night and while most of the announcements there do not pertain to us here at AP (though I did pay attention to several of the announcements out of personal interest), there was one that stood out. It's called PlayLink for PS4, and it's supposed to represent a new way to play games with friends.
Humble Bundle is doing something a little different to celebrate E3 this week, and that's good news for anyone who wants to save a little cash. The special E3 bundle contains over $100 worth of games and content, but most relevant to our purposes here is the Android download of Anomaly 2, which is a cool game that costs all by itself. You also get it on PC/Mac/Linux.
