Verizon Announces Minor Software Update (v4.5.621) For Motorola Droid 2, Brings Various Improvements And Fixes

Last night, Verizon updated their Droid 2 support page to announce a new update (v4.5.621) is ~~coming soon~~ rolling out now. While it doesn't bring anything major (*cough* Android updates *cough*), it does bring a few significant bug fixes and improvements:

+ Device is enabled with the Wireless Alerting System.
+ A Google Security Patch has been added to improve security level.
+ Fixed issue where the device may power ON without user interaction.
+ Adjusted camera settings will be saved, even after the device is powered down.
+ Resolved possible device resets while playing music.

[Updated] DROID RAZR/MAXX Soak Test Set To Begin Tomorrow, But It's Not Ice Cream Sandwich

Update: Looks like Motorola cancelled the soak test due to "deployment issues." Word has it that the update could still happen sometime next week.

DROID RAZR and RAZR MAXX users excited for an Ice Cream Sandwich update by last week's Best Buy screenshot should brace themselves for some bad news – it looks like the aforementioned devices won't be getting Ice Cream Sandwich just yet after all.

According to a letter being sent out to members of Motorola's Feedback Network, the soak test slated to begin tomorrow simply brings an update to build number 6.12.181 with various enhancement and bug fixes.

Motorola Announces RAZR MAXX Hitting Europe And Middle East In May

By most accounts, the Motorola DROID RAZR is an excellent phone, though battery life is questionable. Which is exactly what makes the RAZR MAXX such a great phone: at 9mm, it's still thin, but packs a battery with 85% more capacity (1780 vs 3300mAh). At the moment, the RAZR MAXX isn't sold in Europe and Middle East, but the company has just announced that will change sometime in May.

A quick refresher of the specs:

Android 2.3.6 (Android 4.0 update reportedly coming tomorrow)
1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP4430 CPU
1GB RAM

Leaked Best Buy Image Reveals Exact Dates Of ICS Updates For Verizon Motorola Droid RAZR/MAXX And HTC Rezound

Looks like Rezound a RAZR/Maxx owners could be seeing Ice Cream Sandwich as early as next week, if this leaked document from Best Buy that just landed in our inbox is to be believed.

As you can clearly see, Wednesday, April 4th is slated to be the day that the RAZR twins see the Android 4.0 update; while the Rezound update should begin rolling out just two days later.

Now, we realize that it's pretty close to April Fool's Day, so before you scream out "Fake!", we've already reached out to our sources to verify the validity of the image, and it appears to be the real deal.

Verizon Droid Charge Update FP1 Imminent, Brings Bug Fixes, Enhancements, And The VZW Diagnostic Tool

It's always nice to see a device update roll out. This time around, we're seeing the details of a new software update for the Droid Charge spring up on Verizon's support page. The update brings things to version FP1, and mainly consists of some bug fixes and minor improvements:

While there are no really exciting changes here (*cough* Android updates *cough*), it's tough to complain about software support in any form. It's also nice to see another device get the Verizon Remote Diagnostic (VRD) app.

The update checks in at 85MB, and should be rolling out soon (if not now).

[Leaks] Motorola DROID Fighter Gets Its Glamour Shots On, Angled Corners, HD Screen, And On-Screen Keys All Revealed

We've heard whispers and rumors of a new Motorola device dubbed the "DROID Fighter" (no relation) heading for Verizon. Today, we've got our first look at the device via Mr. Blurrycam. The device was snapped sitting next to a DROID RAZR, highlighting the notable differences of a larger, possibly HD screen and no capacitive buttons.

It can only be assumed that this device, if released as-is, would be an Ice Cream Sandwich device at launch due to its lack of capacitive buttons. Beyond that, however, it's unclear just how much of an improvement this device might be over the DROID RAZR MAXX*.

Motorola Droid X2 Set To Receive Minor Software Update To Build 1.3.418.MB870 – Here's What's In Store

Droid X2 owners should be keeping an eye out for a new OTA set to roll out "soon," bringing the device's build up to 1.3.418.MB870. The OTA is pretty light, coming in at around 35MB, and bringing a small handful of enhancements and fixes to the X2, which debuted almost one year ago. Included in the update are Verizon's Video and VZ Navigator 3D City, Google's security patch, Wireless Alerting System compatibility, and a few other small improvements.

As usual, Verizon has provided a cheat sheet with instructions on how to manually check for the update, but by now the process should sound pretty familiar: just tap Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Download.

Verizon's DROID Fighter And LG Cayman Release Dates Leaked

According to a new document acquired by Droid Life, the DROID Fighter and LG Cayman (which, according to DL, is the LG Lucid 4G) are slated for official releases starting later this month. The LG Cayman is poised to debut March 29th, while the DROID Fighter will be appearing April 12th. Interestingly, the release dates shown match exactly with the workshop dates we reported a couple of weeks ago.

In addition to the LG Cayman and DROID Fighter, the document lists a couple of new devices – the HTC Fireball (which Droid Life's sources are calling the Incredible 4G), and the Samsung Plato, which Droid Life last saw way back in August, listed for a January release.

Leaked Doc Suggests Two New Devices Coming To Verizon: The DROID Fighter And LG Cayman

The folks over at Droid-life have unearthed an internal Verizon document pointing to some device workshops for two as-of-yet unknown devices. The LG Cayman (like the islands, but way smaller), and the DROID Fighter. No word yet on which manufacturer is producing the latter.

We're not sure whether the "device workshops" are public or employee training. We also don't know if they take place before or after the release of the devices. The document suggests that several other workshops have occurred this year, most of them after their respective devices release dates. Then again, for unreleased devices, we can't be sure.
