Over the past 2 days, I've been watching a thread over at MDW that showcased a rooted Motorola XYBOARD tablet but instructed us to wait a few days for the root method to be released. Root was achieved by none other than Dan Rosenberg, the ninja from vulnfactory.org, who has been serving multiple root methods for previously unrootable devices left and right.

Good news, everyone [of you five fine gentlemen in the corner who own a XYBOARD] - as of this morning, we have the root files. The procedure, which can be performed using Windows or Linux, is very simple, and all the files you need are packaged into a single zip file.

Verizon only announced the Droid Xyboard 10.1 and 8.2 a few days ago, and now both devices are available on VZW.com. If you're not the online-orderin' type and can wait through the weekend to pick up this ridiculously-named device, then a quick trip to the closest VZW store on Monday (12/12) will land one in your hands.

Each tablet was built to address a specific market - the XYBOARD 10.1 is made for productivity and the use of a "precision tip stylus," which is included in the box, while the XYBOARD 8.2 was designed with multimedia in mind and sports 2.1 virtual surround sound and a "high-definition display."

Both tablets also come business-ready, as they come bundled with office-centric software such as Quickoffice HD and Citrix GoToMeeting.
