Motorola Speaks Up About Ice Cream Sandwich Updates: RAZR, Bionic, And XOOM To Be The First, Will Confirm More Later

After Google's Ice Cream Sandwich announcement, the obvious question on everyone's mind was will my device get it? Motorola has started to address that issue, albeit very slowly.

A note about Ice Cream Sandwich:

We are planning to upgrade DROID RAZR, Motorola RAZR, Motorola XOOM and DROID BIONIC by Motorola to Ice Cream Sandwich. We will provide more precise guidance on timing after post-public push of Ice Cream Sandwich by Google, as well as any possible additions to this list of devices.

Therefore, we know at least three Moto devices that will see the ICS update. Of course, if you're rocking a high-end Moto device that was released in the past six months or so, I wouldn't sweat it too much.

The Droid RAZR packs some new software features, as well, like Motorola Smart Actions, a Tasker or Locale-like automation system that can toggle radios, adjust brightness, clock speed, and more, all of which are user definable and will activate given a certain situation.

Motorola Droid RAZR Bootloader Locked, But Are You Really Surprised?

It was inevitable that the question is the bootloader locked? would pop up within minutes of Moto's RAZR announcement. The answer should come as a shocker to no one: Yes. According to Moto's Twitter, the bootloader will indeed be locked. It's not necessarily Motorola's choice, though, as the tweet specifically states that "the bootloader was locked per the carrier" Oh snap -- it was all Verizon's fault.

What does this mean for future Big Red devices? Who knows -- perhaps they'll be putting the smack down on manufactures moving forward. Then again, that statement may be Moto trying to dodge a few bullets.

No Need To Wait, The Motorola Droid RAZR Teaser Photo Was Hidden In Plain Sight

Earlier today, the Droid RAZR teaser site went live, revealing bits and pieces of the upcoming device as specific bloggers input the codes sent to them directly from Motorola. There's only one problem with that: we're still waiting for most of the bloggers to enter said codes. Luckily, one of our readers starting digging through the teaser page's source code and uncovered the full image. Have a look:

So, there it is -- the Droid RAZR. The image doesn't reveal much that we didn't know (or at least guess) -- like the ultra-thin profile of the device, which was to be expected from a device carrying the RAZR name.

Teaser Site Shows Up For The Motorola Droid RAZR, Reveals The Device One Piece At A Time

Remember the Droid Bionic teaser site? If not, here's a quick refresher: four different blogs received some weird artifacts, each of which including a corresponding code. Once that code was entered into the site, it unlocked a new part of the video that ultimately unveiled the Bionic. Looks like Moto is doing something similar for the upcoming Droid RAZR, as it has sent out clues to 16 different blogs, all of which include a special unlock code that reveals a new feature of the RAZR.

As of right now the only site to have entered a code is Mobile Burn, which revealed the phone's rumored kevlar coating.

More Motorola Spyder And XOOM 2 Images Surface, Suggesting Both Devices Are Near Completion

A couple of new images of both the internally-named Motorola Spyder, rumored to be the device Moto and Big Red have planned to announce as the Droid RAZR on October 18th, as well as the 8.2-inch variant of the XOOM 2 have surfaced. While we've already seen rough prototype shots of both XOOM 2 variants once before, this new leak shows a much more polished look on the little brother, suggesting that it's near completion and most of the kinks have been worked out.
