Motorola Readies A Roaming Maintenance Update For The Original DROID RAZR And DROID RAZR MAXX [Update: DROID 4 Too]

Update: It looks like a similar update is also being sent out for the DROID 4. The same roaming and data fixes are mentioned on Moto's support page.

Good news, Verizon Motorola DROID RAZR users: there's a new update coming your way. Bad news: it's not KitKat, or any kind of Android version upgrade. Nope, this is a humble maintenance update, meant to address a few niggling bugs and nothing more. Try to contain your excitement. DROID RAZR MAXX users should get this update as well, since the software on that particular phone is identical to the DROID RAZR.

Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX Drops To $150 On Amazon Wireless For New Customers, Still $199 For Upgrades

Been thinking about switching over to Big Red? Amazon Wireless has a good deal for you: the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX for $150. Aside from the Galaxy Nexus, the MAXX is the only other device on VZW at the moment I feel comfortable recommending to people looking for an upgrade, and $150 is a pretty good deal.

If you want to make it an even better deal, though, you should buy it today. Why? Because Verizon will give you a $40 credit if you do. But that deal ends tomorrow, so make haste with your purchase decision. But don't be too hasty - we all end up regretting those impulse buys.

Best Buy Acknowledges Motorola RAZR/MAXX ICS Update Delay With No Updated ETA, Maintains Rezound is Still On Schedule For April 6th

Last week, we got word from a Best Buy tipster that ICS updates would be rolling out to the Droid RAZR/MAXX on April 4th and the HTC Rezound on April 6th. If you've checked the calendar lately, then you're probably aware that today is April 5th - one day later than ICS was supposed to hit the RAZR Twins. Still, that OTA is nowhere in sight (soak test details for the RAZRs did surface yesterday, but it wasn't ICS).

Now, we've received word from another source at Best Buy (and verified with several more) that according to their internal employee news system, the ICS update has indeed been delayed for the RAZRs, but should still be on schedule for the Rezound.

[Updated: Live Now At VZW] Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX Release Date Officially Confirmed For January 26th For $299.99 With New Two-Year Agreement

Update 1/26/12: The MAXX is now live on VZW (thanks, Vinoth):

image

If you were following along with us and the action of CES, then you undoubtedly caught the announcement of the Droid RAZR MAXX, an 8.99 mm thin beast packing a 3,300 mAh battery that will likely outlast you in terms of needing to recharge. While it is nearly 2 mm thicker than the original Droid RAZR, it is still incredibly thin for how long the battery lasts. It can supposedly blast through 21 hours of straight talk time, and considering the fact that any sane person doesn't talk on the phone for 21 hours straight, the battery will definitely keep you up and running during a day of heavy use.
