[Update: Public Release] Wi-Fi Motorola XOOM Update To Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.1, JRO03H) Finally Rolling Out To Soak Testers - Here It Is If You Dare

Update 7/26/12: It looks like the JRO03H update was final after all and has now started rolling out to everyone. Grab your XOOM and taste some Jelly Bean (thanks, @Fdiazreal and @iphilluv).

The Wi-Fi XOOM Jelly Bean update is almost here - after a brief delay it's finally rolling out to a limited group of soak testers who volunteer to provide feedback and test release candidates early. If all goes well, we should expect a wide release probably in the next few days, although if you're feeling brave, you can attempt to flash the update zip over your stock IMM76 build using a USB-OTG cable and these instructions.

Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean OTA (JRO03E) Now Available For The Nexus S i9020A [Download]

After owners of the Nexus S i9023 and i9020T got an official 4.1.1 Jelly Bean OTA last night, the update has become available for the Nexus S' i9020A variant as well.

Just like before, the update can be downloaded straight from Google's servers, though Google has indicated that the OTA should be rolling out to Nexus S phones on "a number of carriers," meaning the wait for an automatic update prompt shouldn't be long.

The 114MB update, which brings the Nexus S' build up to JRO03E, is also available to download directly from Google's server for users with either the i9023 or i9020T hardware variants. For those wondering, this update shouldn't wipe data during installation.

Official Ice Cream Sandwich Update Leaks For Motorola's Atrix 2

Users of Motorola's Atrix 2 who have been yearning for a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich on their devices have something to be excited about today – earlier this morning, an official ICS OTA update was leaked, or rather discovered using CheeseCake, a tool that essentially allows individuals to check specialized Moto servers for updates, meaning no company personnel need be involved in the leak. Here's a quick explanation from our contact Manoj:

Almost all Motorola based Android distros are fist put through a planning then development stage.

Official CyanogenMod 9 Nightlies Arrive For The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 And Tab 2 10.1

With everyone anticipating the introduction of fabled CM10 builds, the CyanogenMod team is still hard at work bringing official CM9 support to even more devices. The latest additions to the list are the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (p3100, 3110, and 3113) and Tab 2 10.1 (p5100, 5110, 5113), each with their own nightlies ready for download and flashing.

It's worth noting, of course, that since these devices are just receiving their first nightlies, you may run into a bug here or there.

HTC Releases Kernel Source Code For T-Mobile One S, EVO 4G LTE

It may have taken over a month longer than the international version, but HTC has finally released the kernel source code for T-Mobile's version of the One S. HTC has offered no explanation for why the US model's source code was delayed for so long, but perhaps this means that the AT&T One X will see its kernel source released at some point.

They also released the kernel source for the EVO 4G LTE.

[Update: Now With yakju] How-To: Download And Update GSM Galaxy Nexus To Android 4.1.1 Manually (Jelly Bean JRO03C)

Following yesterday's Jelly Bean AOSP invasion, the HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus is now receiving the release build 4.1.1 (JRO03C) of Jelly Bean. That's indeed great news, but since the rollout is usually staggered, not all phones are allowed to receive it the second it's out there. If you're rooted or have an unlocked bootloader, why not just bypass the line and flash the update manually? I just did, and it took only a few minutes.

Download: Latest Google Play Store v3.7.13

The latest version of the Play Store is no longer 3.7.11 - say hello to v3.7.13. I haven't found anything different from 3.7.11 just yet - it likely only contains bug fixes. There's no reason to lag behind, however, so if you're running a Play Store with a version lower than 3.7.13, jump right to the download mirrors below. Before you do that, let me point out a few things.

Upon playing with the Store further, I did discover a new feature compared to v3.5.19 that I didn't mention last time - inline app links in search suggestions.

[Download] "What's This Song?" Sound Search Widget From Jelly Bean (No Root Needed)

One of the new features that ships with Jelly Bean is Google's Sound Search widget that helps identify songs after listening to short samples. If you've ever used SoundHound or Shazam, you know exactly what this does. The difference is this widget is pre-installed on Jelly Bean, comes directly from Google, and hooks right into Google Play.

As it turns out, the widget works on ICS as well. I looked into the package and saw that compatibility goes back as far as Honeycomb, so I'm guessing it will install there too (sorry, no Gingerbread or below).

[Breaking] Jelly Bean Download Available Now, But It Only Works On 'Takju' Galaxy Nexuses From Google I/O - For Now

Well, we now have yet another reason to envy Google I/O attendees - a signed copy of the official Jelly Bean build has just been released on the 'nets, but it seems to only be working on the 'takju' (GSM) Galaxy Nexuses given out at I/O 2012 (or at least those GNs with the IMM30D firmware).

You can grab it for yourself right here, if you're interested in what's inside the 156MB ZIP.
