If you're getting tired of reading eBooks on a tiny phone screen or looking for a new eReader application for that shiny new tablet, check out Aldiko Book Reader. This popular eBook application just received a huge update geared toward tablet users. It has an entirely new tablet-optimized user interface, which means reading books on your device will look much better than before. In addition to the user interface overhaul, here's everything else the update includes:

  • Support for opening and importing files into the app directly from the browser, email attachments, and third-party apps like Dropbox.

First things first - if you're easily offended or recently had your appendix removed, with stitches that could come apart from excessive laugher, stop reading right now, hit the Back button, and erase the title from your memory. Cool? Alright.

So, a few weeks back, an app called "Dick" showed up in the Market, only to be quickly banned by Google (what a dick move, eh?). We called it the most WTF app to ever hit Android, and Google seems to be in agreement.

An update to the Android Market bringing it up to version 3.3.12 surfaced late Friday night. This version seems to be an incremental update to the previously available 3.3.11 - in fact, we're not really sure what exactly changed between the two. A cursory run through all the menus didn't yield any obvious additions, although these improvements could be all under-the-hood.

My initial thought was it's somehow related to the Music announcement, but since the Music tab started showing up without any Market updates in 3.3.11, it must be something else.

The Google Music 4.0.9 update (remember the pre-release version 4.0.1 we leaked last month?) is live in the Android Market. The app now integrates with the new Music-enabled Market and has a brand new, much improved ICS-like UI.

Update: For those outside the U.S., here are some download mirrors:

Note: If you are using the leaked Music v4.0.1, you will need to uninstall it first, as it was signed with a different Google key.

The creators of such marvels as My Beach and Celtic Garden, DualBoot Games, have outdone themselves this holiday season with Christmas HD - what I believe to be the most intricate live wallpaper I've seen on Android in a long time (ever?).

Customizable lights, gifts, tree topper, snowflakes, garlands, and a Christmas countdown are just the tip of the iceberg. Wait till you see your own photo above the fireplace, your family's names embroiled on the stockings, and a note to Santa signed by the same guy or gal who's looking back at you in the mirror every morning.

It appears an update to the Android Market is now being pushed out to handsets, and we've got the .apk file for you right now. Warning: this updated Market does not seem to work very well on Honeycomb tablets, there appears to be a number of glitches.

Download Android Market 3.3.11:

Note: Root is not required.

Note: If the Market starts force closing, just open Settings > Applications > Manage > Market, and clear data.

I don't usually post Amazon Appstore apps outside of our social media accounts, but today I felt compelled. There are a few options when it comes to office replacement apps that can read and write all your docs, presentations, and spreadsheets - most of them costing over $10. I've been eyeing OfficeSuite for a while, but never really bothered to try it out.

Well, I just did because OfficeSuite Pro 5 is free at the Amazon Appstore today, and after playing with it, I have to say it's the best office app for Android I've tried so far (at least based on my first impressions).

Hot on the heels of the leaked media files, we now have yet another leak, also courtesy of P3Droid, this time of the 12 wallpapers found in Ice Cream Sandwich. As someone put it on reddit: "I feel like whoever is leaking these is like some kind of psychopath giving us parts of his victim, piece by piece." That sounds pretty accurate, doesn't it?

Instructions

You can download an app P3 put together (registration required) and use it to install these wallpapers, or if you want to explore by yourself:

  1. Download the zip from our direct mirror - no ads or popups.

The road to CyanogenMod 7.1, undoubtedly the largest Android custom ROM, now covering a mind-boggling number of devices (68), has been long and rough. We've been hearing rumblings that the final release was almost here for a number of days (just watch the video of the CM sessions from the Big Android BBQ below), but a couple of hours ago it really did seep through and end up at CM download mirrors across the web.

Want a small goodie from Ice Cream Sandwich to take the edge off your craving for the newest iteration of Android? Of course you do! What we have here for your downloading pleasure is the analog clock from ICS. Essentially, it's the same as the Gingerbread clock, with some obvious aesthetic changes.

This is about as basic as it gets, as it's just the widget (no desk clock, alarm, etc.). Still, if you just can't wait to get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich, this is a good place to start.
