I don't usually post Amazon Appstore apps outside of our social media accounts, but today I felt compelled. There are a few options when it comes to office replacement apps that can read and write all your docs, presentations, and spreadsheets - most of them costing over $10. I've been eyeing OfficeSuite for a while, but never really bothered to try it out.

Well, I just did because OfficeSuite Pro 5 is free at the Amazon Appstore today, and after playing with it, I have to say it's the best office app for Android I've tried so far (at least based on my first impressions).

Hot on the heels of the leaked media files, we now have yet another leak, also courtesy of P3Droid, this time of the 12 wallpapers found in Ice Cream Sandwich. As someone put it on reddit: "I feel like whoever is leaking these is like some kind of psychopath giving us parts of his victim, piece by piece." That sounds pretty accurate, doesn't it?

Instructions

You can download an app P3 put together (registration required) and use it to install these wallpapers, or if you want to explore by yourself:

  1. Download the zip from our direct mirror - no ads or popups.

The road to CyanogenMod 7.1, undoubtedly the largest Android custom ROM, now covering a mind-boggling number of devices (68), has been long and rough. We've been hearing rumblings that the final release was almost here for a number of days (just watch the video of the CM sessions from the Big Android BBQ below), but a couple of hours ago it really did seep through and end up at CM download mirrors across the web.

Want a small goodie from Ice Cream Sandwich to take the edge off your craving for the newest iteration of Android? Of course you do! What we have here for your downloading pleasure is the analog clock from ICS. Essentially, it's the same as the Gingerbread clock, with some obvious aesthetic changes.

This is about as basic as it gets, as it's just the widget (no desk clock, alarm, etc.). Still, if you just can't wait to get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich, this is a good place to start.

Update: In a not-so-unexpected (read: expected) twist, Big Red has pulled the update for the TBolt, so if you haven't gotten it yet, now you know why. There isn't much info as to when it will start rolling out again, but we'll let you know when we find something out.

The wait is finally over - Thunderbolt users can now officially pull the latest update for their devices, Android Gingerbread 2.3.4, fresh from the oven.

As an Android developer, I don't think I've been this excited for an ADT and Tools releases in a long time. The Android tools team (Tor and Xav) just dropped off the latest ADT and SDK Tools at the Android Tools download site, bringing both up to version 14.

Among a sizeable list of improvements I'm mostly excited about these (and by excited, I mean ecstatic):

  • Improved incremental builds. Resource compilation is run much less frequently.

Nexus One owners, you've got an update waiting for you this evening. The version number is 2.3.6 (GRK39F), which will apply right over 2.3.4 GRJ22. If you still haven't gotten yours OTA, we've got the download link and instructions below.

As for the changes it brings, we haven't gotten much to go on except for the following blurb: "important bug fixes and security patches." If it's anything like the Nexus S 2.3.6 update, it will contain a fix for the voice search bug (was this even a problem on the Nexus One?

If you are looking for Android-themed icons, whether for your app or website, you're going to love these 12 collections from Tehkseven that their creator, Paul, sent over to us earlier today.

They are absolutely free, they look great, and there are literally thousands of them. I counted them and came up with 4,400.

Did I mention they're free? Not only that, Paul also said he would be open to creating any missing icons you may need on-demand.

WARNING: This file is only for the Sprint Nexus S 4G. To flash the update, the phone must be stock - that means no custom ROMs. Rooted handsets are OK, though this might reset root permissions (you just need to re-root). We've included a link to a full, flashable ROM which will probably require a wipe, as well.

If you find yourself still without the Android 2.3.7 (GWK74) update for your Sprint Nexus S 4G, have no fear - we're here to help.
