Port In Credit

Are you a Verizon customer who has been waiting (in vain) for the HTC Thunderbolt to arrive, and are tempted to just get an EVO? Maybe you are on AT&T and are fed up with the slow upload speeds on the Inspire and Atrix, and would rather just pick up an EVO Shift? You may be in luck, as Sprint is generously offering a $125 credit for smartphone subscribers who make the switch and port their old numbers to Sprint.

Check out the instructions Sprint posted to get in on the deal:

    1. Find the perfect phone. Shop online now.
    2. Transfer your eligible number to Sprint by 4/16/2011.

As  more high-end Android tablets hit the market, the prices can be pretty overwhelming (I'm talking to you, Motorola XOOM). While it doesn't sport cutting-edge specs, the 7" Barnes & Noble Nook Color has been taken on as a pet project by many in the development community (even running a mostly stable port of the Honeycomb SDK preview), and can be turned into a solid $250 tablet. Now, if you act quickly, you can change that to a $200 tablet when you snatch it up from the manufacturer's eBay account.

Here's how to get in on the action:

    1. Navigate to the correct listing by barnesandnobleinc
    2. Checkout with promo code CBARNESDD
    3. Enjoy your $200 (with free shipping) Android tablet!

After yesterday's launch of Optimus V on Virgin Mobile USA for $150, MetroPCS, another prepaid carrier, just followed the same suit and dropped the price of its own Optimus variant, the Optimus M, from $229 to $149.

The $80 President's Day price drop consists of an instant $30 discount and a $50 mail-in rebate, valid on purchases made from February 1st (that's today as of 5 hours ago) and February 28th. Free 2-day shipping is included with all phone purchases.

A quick spec recap: the phone comes with Android 2.2, 600MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM, 3.2" 480x320px screen, Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, 3.2MP camera, and a 1500mAh battery.

Facebook for Android has been notoriously slow to release updates and features in general, and last night's update reaffirmed that the app is nowhere near the top of Facebook's priority list. The Deals feature has been available on iOS since early November of 2010, only reaching Android almost 3 months later. According to the changelog, the Deals functionality is the only addition to the app, so let's take a quick look at how exactly you are going to find said deals.

As you can see, upon updating and starting Facebook, you will not find a Deals button anywhere in the menu.

There's no question Hexage's Android games are state-of-the-art - in fact, EVAC was #1 on our list of non-Angry Birds games - but there are those of you reluctant to spend your hard-earned cash on a game for your phone.

In an effort to alleviate that stress, the game development firm has cut the prices of each and every one of its games in half until Monday, January 3rd. As a reminder, Hexage is the company behind the following games.

EVAC, EVAC Lite, and EVAC HD

It's worth noting that the discounted prices have yet to appear on AppBrain, so if you want to take advantage of them, you'll have to find the apps in the Market on your phone.

The Archos 5 has never been the most popular Android tablet - it has its plusses and minuses, but the 500GB version at almost half off that popped up on Amazon today may make you forgive and forget some of its flaws. Considering that with the Market hack, Archos 5 gets full access to the Android Market, this little device could end up being the largest portable media hub you can get for the price.

If you thought Amazon's recent deals on all AT&T Android phones and all Verizon Droids were good, just wait 'til you see what they've got in store for the holidays. Amazon Wireless' Black Friday deals are now up, though without a definitive end date - instead, the deals will be available while supplies last. Of course, it goes without saying that Amazon Wireless does not charge tax in most states (except for KY, KS, NY, ND, and WA) and has free shipping, beating out carriers' own retail stores any day.

T-Mobile's Samsung Vibrant is still a pretty hot phone, but with the release of the G2 and the upcoming myTouch 4G, Amazon decided to throw a blowout sale for only 1 penny again, just like it did back in August.

This time, however, existing customers upgrading their handsets and extending their contracts are no longer left in the dust. As always, no taxes or shipping fees are involved. But you already knew that, didn't you - it's Amazon after all.

And I still remember the time when $150 was considered a good deal...

HTC EVO 4G, our favorite 4.3 incher from Sprint, has revolutionized the mobile industry back in June. However, due to high demand and low stock, it was extremely hard to get at first, and when it did show up in stock, we were still looking at a $199 price tag. Sure, a $10 or $20 discount popped up here and there but no significant deals ever surfaced. Until now.

Amazon.com is offering a brand new EVO 4G for $99.99 to new customers signing up for a 2-year contract. The offer comes with free 2-day shipping, free activation (until Oct 18th), and no tax.
