With over 700,000 Android devices being activated per day and 3.7 million activated over Christmas alone, it should be pretty old news by now that our favorite OS is taking over. And as with most fanboys, loyalty to the Android OS runs deep - many who purchase one Android product fall in love with it, and are likely to purchase more (and Google's syncing capabilities certainly don't hurt!)

So, how many Android devices have you owned? For the purposes of this poll, let's exclude devices that run heavily customized, virtually proprietary builds of Android such as the Kindle(s) and Nook(s).

Pricing And Specs Revealed For Meizu MX: First Quad-Core Android Phone

That glut of quad-core awesomeness that Nvidia claimed was to begin this August didn't exactly happen. While this is a disappointment, it is clear that the second doubling of cores is on the not-so-distant horizon.

Today, Chinese manufacturer Meizu announced the pricing and specs of its newest handset: the MX. The Meizu MX comes in two flavors, the 16GB dual-core variety and the 32GB model with a quad-core processor. Both devices sport 4.3" qHD displays and A9 CPUs, but they do vary in price. The 16GB model will cost around $470 USD while the big-daddy 32GB version will run you $625 USD.

Confirmed: Motorola To Make Bootloaders On Current Devices Unlockable In "Late 2011" - Where Carriers Allow It

A few months ago, Motorola announced that its "portfolio of devices" will be graced with unlockable/relockable bootloaders in late 2011. However, there was some confusion over whether this concerned future handsets only or current devices as well.

Yesterday, Ausdroid reported that unlocked bootloaders will be coming to all existing Motorola Android devices (or rather, those still on Moto's update schedule) later this year via a software update. Needless to say, this was excellent news, and it had many a DROID X user jumping for joy.

To confirm, we reached out to Motorola - here's what we got in response:

Motorola has announced we will enable an unlockable/relockable bootloader in future software releases where channel and operator partners will allow it.

[Rumor] Amazon May Be Working On An "Entire Family" Of Android Devices (For Real This Time)

It looks like truth may just mirror fiction. Either that or the Android Police team has some scary psychic powers (although some may call it intuition). According to Android And Me's latest rumor, Amazon is indeed set to dip their toes into the waters of the Android device market. Multiple tipsters within the industry have informed them that Amazon is working on an "entire family" of Android devices slates for a holiday 2011 arrival. It seems safe to say that "entire family" can be interpreted as a phone and a number of different sized tablets.

This isn't very surprising, as Amazon has been a major player in e-readers for a long time, and there have been previous rumors of "iPad competitors" coming out of Amazon HQ since September of last year.

Developers, Take Note: Google Unleashes Fascinating New Android Market Statistics And Charts For Your Apps

Late last night, the Android team pushed out a set of changes to the Android app publishing interface that developers use to upload and maintain their apps. The new features, while completely invisible to the end-users, are absolutely fascinating to app developers.

Each app now has a Statistics link, which consists of the following:

a Google Finance-style Flash chart of all installs, the time period for which you can adjust as you see fit
Android versions (conveniently placed side-by-side with the same stats for all apps in the Market)
specific device models
countries where your app is downloaded from (also side-by-side with countries for all apps in the Market)
languages used on the phones with your app on them (also compared to the global stats)

Samsung Sells Three Million Galaxy S Devices In The States Alone, Becomes #1 Android Manufacturer In The US

If you thought the news that Samsung shifted more than a million Galaxy Tabs was impressive, just wait 'til you hear this one: the company today announced that over three million of its Galaxy S smartphones have been sold in the US alone. This not only means that Sammy now owns 32.1% of the Android market in the US; it also makes Samsung the #1 supplier of Android devices in the US. Unfortunately, it's clear that the rollout of Froyo hasn't been able to keep up with the devices' sales.

Samsung Intends To Dominate The Tablet Market That Doesn't Quite Exist Yet

As we all know, Samsung is very adamant about its famed Galaxy S's older brother, the Galaxy Tab. We're getting more details about it as days go by, but so far it appears that Samsung is planning on selling it exclusively through wireless carriers and has already secured several deals with Europe carriers.

What is very interesting is this quote they made in an article by the Wall Street Journal:

Mr. Yoon [Samsung's Product Executive] said Samsung expects to ship 10 million Galaxy Tabs and take a third of the global tablet market next year. Samsung is exploring the possibility of a tablet with a 10-inch or six-inch screen, and Mr.

If you’re a fan of a physical QWERTY keyboard, your Android options tend to be fairly limited. Your best bet would be to pick up the Motorola Droid, but if, for some reason, that phone doesn’t do it for you, you’re limited to either the Cliq or the Backflip – both developed by Motorola, and both gimmicky and under-powered. For some reason manufacturers seem to be avoiding high-powered QWERTY handsets like the plague, instead opting for touchscreen ‘superphones’, such as the EVO 4G, or the Nexus One.

Sure, these are nice handsets, but for those of us that just can’t get used to a touchscreen keyboard, QWERTY handsets are where it’s at.

Latest Breakdowns: Top 10 Android Devices, Operating System Share, Satisfaction Levels, And Other Stats

Today we're having a look at AdMob's latest monthly mobile metrics report which includes some information that may be of interest to the Android community, especially developers.

Top 10 Android Devices

One particularly interesting piece of information is their ranking of the top ten Android smartphones in terms of market share, based on data collected by AdMob in May of this year. You can view the list and each handset maker’s own market share below.

Combined, HTC and Motorola are dominating the Android handset market with an 83% share. It's going to be very interesting to see how the stats change in the coming months with Samsung, currently at 5% (at least in the top 10 list), gunning full speed to regain their own Android market share.
