The new Moto Z line is divisive. It's probably the best example in a limited field of new "modular" phones, consisting of only the Z variants and LG's G5... and LG already dropped the modular design for its more recent V20. But if you've been eying either the Verizon-exclusive Moto Z Droid (or the Moto Z Force Droid with a bigger battery) or the unlocked Moto Z, the sticker shock of the phones and the Moto Mod add-ons may have been a disincentive. Now Motorola is giving a generous $150 off all of them on its web store. Read More
We should all be familiar with the 10-cent deal alerts by now. It is a real luck of the draw to see if your home country is included in the sales.
Regardless, here is another app on sale: Twilight Pro. Read More
The Huawei Watch is generally regarded as one of the best AW watches currently available, but it usually commands a high price tag. Although the MSRP was originally $499, most models have lowered in price since release. At least one of the versions, the Gold/Sapphire model, has finally dropped under $200. Read More
Sony has tried more than once to wedge themselves into the North American smartphone market, but often to no avail. Perhaps in an effort to clear stock for their recently-released Xperia XZ and X Compact, Sony is now offering the Xperia X for $399 on Amazon.
Even at that price, I'm not sure I would recommend this phone. If you read our review of the device, you'll know that it didn't impress us. Read More
Samsung's attempt at virtual reality manifested in the original Gear VR, which was essentially a suped-up version of Google Cardboard. If you have a compatible device, and want to give the Gear VR a chance, the original model is now half-off on Amazon.
To clarify, this is the microUSB model that is compatible with the Galaxy S7, S7 edge, Note 5, S6 edge+, S6 edge, and S6. This is not the 2016 model designed for the explosive Galaxy Note7 (but thanks to a modular connector, also works with older devices).
The original Gear VR has a 96-degree field of view, as opposed to the newer model's 101 degrees. Read More
Jaybird is known for making some of the best earbuds on the market, and the X2 is no exception. These earbuds have gone on sale more and more recently, with them dropping to $79.99 in July on Amazon Prime, and down to $69.99 at Best Buy a month later. Once again, the Jaybird X2 is only $79.99, this time at Target. Read More
The original Pebble predates Android Wear, and since the first model, the Pebble line has continued to improve and develop. One of their newest watches, the Pebble Time Round, has dropped in price significantly on Amazon. It's now only $113 for the Silver model on Amazon, almost half off from its original price of $199.
The Time Round has many of the features of their Pebble Time wearable, with the notable exception of having a circular screen. The watch has an always-on color e-paper display, giving it an estimated battery life of two days. It also has a step and sleep tracker, downloadable watchfaces, and of course the massive library of Pebble applications. Read More
The Moto 360 Sport is a bit of an odd product. It's essentially a second-generation Moto 360 with a silicone band, slightly different design, a transflective LCD for better outdoor viewing, and GPS functionality. Whereas most Android Wear watches are attempting to look as close to classic watches as possible, the 360 Sport stands out (for better or for worse). The $299 MSRP was a tough sell, but thankfully, it has gone far down in price since introduction.
Right now, Best Buy is selling the Black model, pictured above, for only $139.99. Read More
Tell me your thoughts on the Amazon Echo. Do you like the product but don't buy into the Amazon ecosystem? Are you into the concept but don't want a black plastic cylinder taking up shelf space in your home? In case of the former, you might want to wait for Google Home. But if you're feeling the latter, then maybe you should check out the Triby portable speaker that comes with Alexa built-in. Read More
The night sky isn't just filled with stars. The naked eye in most areas of the world (barring massive light pollution) can spot at least a few galaxies, nebulas, planets, and even artificial satellites like the International Space Station. If you have ever wondered what is floating in the sky above you, Star Walk 2 is a great tool - and it's on sale! Read More
