XDA user x2kjosh got curious about what exactly his phone was doing at any given time, as I'm sure we all have at some point. Your GPS icon randomly showing up in the task bar is a perfect example: What the hell is it doing there? What app is getting my location? Obviously tired of all the questions, Josh wrote a handy little app called Task Identifier.

The idea of it is simple: Notify the user whenever an app is loaded into memory. It's a pretty straightforward concept, but it is actually really interesting to use. It's hard to explain, so I'll just put the description for the thread and some pictures here:

For the last 2 weeks, I've been testing a pre-release version of Theft Aware 2.0 - an app that occupies a spot in the familiar Android Security category, alongside WaveSecure, Lookout, and others. And yet, Theft Aware stands so much taller compared to them that they become small, almost invisible, dots. I could hardly contain my excitement and fascination with Theft Aware, but first, I needed to get answers to all of my questions and pass the info to all of you.

The main reason I'm fascinated with Theft Aware is its superb integration with rooted phones. The benefits of Theft Aware's elevated security features on rooted phones are so great that, in my opinion, rooting is worth it (if you've haven't done so yet) just to get the full TA experience.

[Review] TeamViewer Lets You Remotely Control Your Friends' Computers, And It Does It Well

Yesterday, TeamViewer unleashed its beta app for Android on the world via their website and, boy, let me tell you, it is awesome with a capital "a." Of all the VNC viewers I've used on Android, this is the by far the best. Let's dive in a little bit and I'll show you why.

After you install and run the TeamViewer Android application, you'll be confronted by this screen:

So, at this point, it's fairly obvious you'll need a computer running the desktop software to go any further. In order for your Android device to play nicely with your computer, you'll need the version 6 beta of the desktop client, which you can grab here.

Control Your Music Player Using LauncherPro, Be Awesome

It looks like user Rock_Harder over at the XDA community has solved a problem most people didn't even realize they had. If you, like many people, are faced with the issue of where to put the music widget on your homescreen, he's got you covered.

Essentially, his dilemma was that he simply didn't have the real estate to place the music widget effectively. He uses LauncherPro and had some of those handy extra dock icons laying around so, using all of his cunning and wit, Remoter was born. Huzzah!

"What is Remoter?" you may ask, "and why do I need it?" Remoter is awesome, and you need it because it is a very clever implementation of Android's capabilities that saves you time and space.
