CTIA 2012: Hands-On With Verizon's Upcoming HTC Droid Incredible 4G [Video, Photos]

While Big Red may not be getting an HTC One series device just yet, the finally official Incredible 4G is actually very close. Announced yesterday just in time for CTIA, the Incredible 4G, along with most of its specs, was leaked by Android Police back in early April and briefly showed up two weeks later at DroidDoes.com. Yesterday, Verizon threw together a nice unofficial shindig for the press where we could finally check out the Incredible 4G in person. Read on for my impressions.

The Incredible 4G is basically One S' little brother - it's smaller (4" vs 4.3"), slightly clocked down (1.2GHz vs 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 'Krait'), has smaller internal storage capacity (8GB vs 16GB), an S-LCD instead of a Super AMOLED screen, and contains only a subset of ImageSense called Video Pic (it lets you snap photos while taking a video, which we show off below).

Though it has garnered a lot less attention than Amazon's Kindle Fire, Barnes and Noble's latest NOOK - the NOOK Tablet - it was released to solid reviews. The $50 price premium over the Fire - while warranted because of the doubled internal storage, doubled RAM, and SD card slot - also helped the Kindle Fire sell more units. Now, though, the Tablet is on sale for $199 with free shipping at eBay Daily Deals - meaning it matches the price of the less powerful Kindle Fire. Certainly a bargain, especially considering that the NT is a powerful budget tablet with a small but dedicated developer community backing it up.

[WTF] Barnes & Noble Responds To Microsoft's Android Lawsuit, Reminds Us Why MS Is The Devil

Last month, Microsoft took bookseller Barnes & Noble, the company responsible for the Nook and Nook Color, to court over some patents infringed because B&N used the Android operating system in the Nook and Nook Color. This is definitely nothing new in the world of mobile devices. It happens all the time, especially with companies like Apple and Microsoft trying to take complete dominance of every arena they enter. That's not the big story here. The big story is the extremely, and I mean EXTREMELY douche-tastic way Microsoft is trying to attack Android with these patents.

One of Android's biggest advantages (besides being vastly superior, of course) is that it costs exactly nothing.

Amazon's been making waves in the Android blogosphere recently with such new products as the Appstore and the Cloud Player, but it looks like they're not done yet; in fact, they're only just starting. According to the same source who tipped us about the Appstore a few months back, the company will be launching the Blaze, which looks to be a smartphone of pretty high caliber, come August - and in a sentence, there's a lot to look forward to.
