Smartphones and tablets are phenomenal portable media devices, especially if you've plugged in a good pair of headphones. Relying on the built-in speakers might get by in a pinch, but they're not going to single-handedly provide background music for a party without a little bit of help. If you're in that situation, now might be a good time to check out the online clearance section of Best Buy, where we've found two speakers that have been drastically reduced in price: the Philips Fidelio AS111/37 speaker dock and the Shoqbox SB7200 portable Bluetooth speaker.

Amazon has just lowered the price of the RAZR MAXX to a staggeringly-low $99 for new customers (it's $199 for upgrades). Check it out here. This is by far the lowest price we've seen on this device (previous low was $149), so if you were waiting for it on the cheap, now's the time to grab it.

eBay's Daily Deals is once again proving its capacity for awesome - by offering the GSM unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus for just $370. And as far as I can tell, at least in California, you won't even have to cough up sales tax - making this an even better deal than Google's $400 (which totals out at $440 with tax and shipping for CA).

So, you might want to get on that.

When the tech world first heard of the BlackBerry tablet, it was greeted with a fair amount of optimism. It was thought that the very daring (for RIM) device could be just what the company needed to get out of its unabashed slump in popularity, particularly in the United States. In addition, rumblings that the device would be able to run Android Market apps (and actually can now) had Android and RIM fans alike excited for the possibilities of cross-platform development.

HTC-Flyer_1

The HTC Flyer was the Taiwanese handset company's first foray into the tablet game - a 7" device with a 1.5GHz single-core processor, two cameras, an SD card slot, and 16GB of storage (digital stylus not included). At $500, it was pretty obviously overpriced. But for 300 bucks, the this tablet is at least nearing what we'd call the competitive range.

The Flyer runs Gingerbread, though a Honeycomb update is in the pipes, and its bootloader presents no obstacles to the flashing of custom ROMs.

Looking to get a full-color eReader on the cheap? Or perhaps a CyanogenMod conversion candidate? DailySteals is offering up refurbished B&N NOOK Color tablets for just $150, shipping included (next best price we've found is $190 shipped for a refurb).

That's quite a steal for a 7" IPS display, complete with the NOOK's signature carabineer hook thing. The NOOK Color has been renowned for its hackability, particularly because you can get it to run CyanogenMod 7 pretty easily.

If you head over to woot.com this morning, you'll find refurbished Motorola XOOM 32GB Wi-Fi tablets are being tossed off for a mere $355 shipped - that's $50 less than the best deal we've seen previously for a non-refurb, but honestly, you probably won't even notice they aren't new.

That's quite a bit of tablet storage for a pretty reasonable price, so we're inclined to say this deal is indeed a good one.

Android-Money

I know, I know. The last one was under $50, and preferably free. But in our attempt to keep you updated with the latest and greatest deals on the latest and greatest devices, we had to make sacrifices. Fortunately, that means there are also no repeat appearances from last month's post, though you should still check it out - a lot of those handsets (aside from the DROID 2) are still viable choices.

I'm not sure why anyone would want the DROID X2 (our own Aaron Gingrich didn't exactly love it, either - and that's putting it nicely.) But, some people do seem to like the X2 - probably most owners upgrading from the original X. Why? Because it looks and feels exactly the same. So, if you want this Motorola monster, now's a decent time to get it - as it's just $100 with a new Verizon account on Wirefly or AmazonWireless.
