HTC Adds Bootloader Unlock Support For More Devices - Desire Z, Aria, Droid Incredible, T-Mobile G2, Status, And ChaCha

If you didn't know, HTC has promised to provide bootloader unlock support for all devices released after September of 2011 as well as many others released before, and they have been keeping good on that promise with added support for many devices over the last few months.

They're still going strong, and added several more devices to the list earlier today.

There you have it, the newly supported devices are the HTC Desire Z, ChaCha, Aria, Droid Incredible, Status, and T-Mobile G2.

HTC Releases The Source Code For Several Devices, Proving That The World Is Coming To Its End

Since the beginning of time, there has been but one rule among men: release GPL source code on time. HTC Announces The Facebook-centric Status, Coming to AT&T This Summer

We've known of this phone and all of its different monikers - everything from the "Facebook phone" to the ChaCha - for a while, but now it's finally official, and bearing the name Status. Honestly, I can't think of a name more appropriate for a phone that's entire existence is defined by Facebook.

From a spec standpoint, the Status is nothing to brag about:

  • 2.6 inch 480x320 display
  • 800MHz Qualcomm processor
  • 512MB RAM
  • Full Blackberry-style keyboard
  • Android 2.3 with Sense

What does make this phone special, however, is its social integration and the inclusion of a Facebook button.

Trademark Research Fail Or Balls Of Steel? ChaCha Suing HTC For Trademark Infringement While Xoom Corp Is Going After Motorola

You would think that large hardware manufacturers, such as HTC and Motorola, would dedicate at least a few hours to trademark searches before naming their products and investing millions of dollars into promotional efforts for said products. That would be a fair assumption, right? It seems like the answer sometimes is: not exactly.

HTC Announces Six New Android Devices (Desire S, Wildfire S, Incredible S, Salsa, ChaCha, And Flyer Tablet), Confirms That Android 2.4 Is Gingerbread

To say the expectations were high for HTC's MWC press conference would be a drastic understatement, especially since the company didn't really announce anything new at CES. So were those expectations met? Personally, I'd have to say "no," but read on to discover the complete specifications of each of their six new devices and decide for yourself.
