[CES 2012] Recon Instruments Announces May 2012 Availability Of SDK For GPS-Enabled Ski Goggles, Support For Polar Heart Rate Monitor

Recon Instruments, creators of wearable goggle technology powered by Android called MOD Live that we got so excited about at CES 2011, have officially announced the impending release of an SDK for Android, due for launch in May 2012. Recon also announced Polar, the first app made using the SDK, that connects a Polar WearLink+ heart rate monitor to MOD Live and allows the MOD display to become a "biometric reader that delivers an athlete's heart rate in real time while they ski or snowboard."

For those not in the know, the Polar WearLink+ transmitter is essentially a Bluetooth-enabled heart monitor that can send heart rate information to a variety of compatible applications (in this case, the new Polar app).

[CES 2012] Tegra 3 Exclusive Shadowgun: Deadzone Coming In Q1 2012 With 8-Person Multiplayer

Nvidia's CES press conference featured a few people playing Shadowgun together, which was a little puzzling, because currently that's impossible. It turns out they were showing off a new version: Shadowgun: Deadzone. The cool new thing about Deadzone, if you haven't guessed by now, is multiplayer support.

Deadzone is bringing all kinds of bells and whistles to the Shadowgun series. It supports 8 player online multiplayer, gamepads, and voice chat.

[CES 2012] Sony Introduces Google TV Set-Top Box, Blu-Ray Player

Seems Sony’s making good on its promise to keep churning out Google TV devices – in fact, the company just introduced not one, but two such gadgets.

As of now, we don’t have tech specs for either of the duo, but what we do know is what you see above: both the NSZ-GP9 Blu-ray player (on the left) and the NSZ-GS7 set-top box (on the right) look splendid, and both have seriously overcomplicated names.

[CES 2012] Sony Takes Wraps Off The 'Nozomi', Makes It Official As The Xperia S

We've been hearing about the Sony Nozomi for a few weeks now, and Sony just officially unveiled the device at CES. it will be known simply as the Xperia S, and shares most of the same guts as the Xperia Ion (announced earlier today), including a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 12MP Exmor R camera, NFC, and Android 2.3.x (will be upgraded to ICS). Unlike the Ion, however, the Xperia S has a smaller 4.3-inch display, though it's still rocking a 1280x720 resolution.

[Updated] CES 2012: NVIDIA Unveils New 7-Inch Tegra 3 ICS ASUS Tablet (ME370T) For $250 And New 'DirectTouch' Functionality

NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang outed a new 7-inch Tegra 3 ICS tablet today for a revolutionary price - $249. While we know very little about the tablet right this moment, we do know that it was developed by ASUS and it's not the Eee Pad MeMo ME171 that was unveiled earlier today.

Update: Apparently this device is still in its early days, as it still doesn't even have a name.

Update 1 - Confirmed: Asus says ICS hits at 8pm Pacific time, today!

Here's a bit of news from the Nvidia's CES Press Conference. Jen-Hsun Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, announced that the Asus Transformer Prime is getting its Ice Cream Sandwich update today (January 9th, for those of you in the future).

The Transformer Prime sports an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, so Huang should have inner knowledge of the TPrime's update schedule.
