Google Is Apparently Giving Project Fi Customers Who Also Ordered A Nexus 6 Welcome Kits Containing Cases, Earbuds, And External Batteries

You have two options when you sign up for Project Fi. You can buy a SIM card with a new Nexus 6. Or you can just buy the SIM card and stick it in your own Nexus 6. Want to use another phone? You can, as long as you tether it to a Nexus 6. A Project Fi SIM has to go into a Nexus 6.

For the time being, that eliminates a sizable chunk of interested consumers. Project Fi is relatively cheap, but the Nexus 6 is not. The latter is also a pretty girthy device to choose as your one-size-fits-all solution.

Galaxy S6 Edge Owners Reporting Scratched Screens After Using Samsung's First-Party Clear View Cases

Every time Samsung releases a new high-profile phone or tablet, it also makes a bunch of pricey first-party cases to go with it. And why not - they're high-margin accessories that get stocked by the likes of Best Buy and carrier stores, and most of the time they're actually pretty nice. But the first round of official cases for the Galaxy S6 Edge are showing some remarkable problems: they might actually be damaging the gadgets they're designed to protect.

We're talking about the "Clear View" series of cases in particular, which wrap around the back of the phones and cover the screen with a translucent piece of plastic, allowing the time and other information to shine through.

A couple of caveats: one, while the tablets are marked as "new," the seller seems to think that the definition requires a few conditions.

[Update: Potential Nexus 6 Case Spotted] Exclusive: Google Exploring 'Google Workshop' To Take Customized Smartphone Cases To A New Level

Google hasn't exactly had a spotless track record when it comes to official Nexus accessories. Accessories have been teased or shown off only to arrive months later or not at all (remember that Nexus 10 dock?).

Recently, though, Google has done a much better job - there are a bevy of case options available for both the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013) in a variety of colors, catering to almost all tastes (though at times the quality may not be ideal).

The $40 Nexus 6 Stand Folio (Wallet) Case Is Now In Stock On The Play Store

The Play Store usually gets accessories a few weeks (or more) behind the launch of any new devices. So it is with the Nexus 6: after showing up as "coming soon" about three weeks ago in the US store, the Stand Folio Case is now available for purchase, and should ship within two business days. The case can be yours for a hefty forty bucks, but it's made by the generally reliable Case-Mate, not some no-name accessory mill.

The Stand Folio Case does what it says on the box, so to speak: it's got a leather-style flap cover with two integrated pockets for cards or ID, and two cutouts for the stereo speakers on the Nexus 6.

Motorola Flip Case App Supports The New Window Case For The DROID Turbo

The new DROID Turbo for Verizon is a beast of a phone, but Motorola isn't letting it stand alone. The company also announced a proprietary see-through case for the device, with the somewhat benign name "Droid Turbo Flip Case." It's a pretty standard full-body flip case offered in either leather or nylon, but it includes a screen cutout and a transparent cover that lets you view the phone's active notifications, or even answer a call or take a photo, without opening the case. So yeah, it's basically like Samsung's S-View cases and their imitators.

Though the Turbo's Flip Case isn't actually available to order yet, Motorola has already released an app to support its see-through functionality.

Photos Of The Nexus 9 Keyboard Case Surface As It Passes Through NCC Certification

We recently posted an exclusive look at technical drawings for a Bluetooth keyboard cover destined for HTC's upcoming Nexus 9 (Volantis) tablet. At the time all we had to go on were drawings accompanying the information provided to us (and my own renders), but VR-Zone caught some photos of the keyboard case as it passed through NCC certification.

We can confirm that the model number for the keyboard in these photos (UG0B) matches the model number in the materials provided to us for our initial coverage, so - while the device pictured may still be in testing - we can say with confidence that this is the same keyboard case.
