Look, Gamevil, we need to talk. You folks have been doing some fine work in the mobile gaming world, you really have. Zenonia, Baseball Superstars, Colosseum, well-made titles all. And I'm sure plenty of cash-strapped gamers appreciate that the vast majority of your games can be played for free. But in the last few months, you've become the poster child of everything that's wrong with mobile gaming.

Case in point: your brand new entry in the much-loved Cartoon Wars series. Cartoon Wars: Blade takes a more old-school approach to the action genre, with simple Battletoads-style 2D fighting. There's a pretty interesting inventory and weapon system, too, with two active melee weapons and a ranged weapon functioning as a special attack.

Remember Cartoon Wars? Well, all the murderous stickman-fighting action you can handle is back in Gamevil's latest title: Cartoon Wars 2: Heroes.

As the self-proclaimed "most complete defense and real-time strategy game of the Cartoon Wars series," CW2 picks up where the original left off, and even adds a handful of features, including new heroes. In CW2 you can develop your stickman hero from six upgradeable characters, learning new skills as you level up.

There are three different modes of gameplay in CW2: Quick, Special, and, of course, Hell mode. I had to put it in italics to add to the dramatic effect.

You may know Gamevil as the developer of the ever-popular Zenonia and Baseball Superstars series, and a bunch of other awesome games, but their latest leaves something to be desired. Similar to their earlier title Cartoon Wars: Gunner+, Gamevil's latest installment - Cartoon Wars - uses a well-know (if not overused) game concept, which is just a nice little time-killer at best. That being said, it's still fun to play and does a good job at keeping you occupied.

Gameplay

The story behind the war that is tearing Cartoon World apart is one of oppression and slavery. The Black and White Tribe had been enslaved by the Color Tribe for generations, until they figured it was time for a revolution, so they went up in arms and marched into war.
