Verizon's 'unlimited' PopData scheme is all kinds of bullshit

Sprint has unlimited data. T-Mobile has unlimited data. AT&T has unlimited data. True, all of these offerings have limits on unlimited, like T-Mo's extra charges for HD video and tethering and how AT&T will only give you unlimited data if you also pay for a bloated DirecTV contract. But Verizon's staunch refusal to allow customers access to the unlimited data spigot, not to mention pushing grandfathered unlimited data customers away, has been a big point in favor of its competitors. Verizon feels so insecure about its lack of unlimited plans that its advertising tries to tell customers why unlimited data sucks.

Cool Your Jets: These 'Leaked Photos' Don't Show A Colorfly Nexus 8 Tablet

Have you heard of Colorfly, a European importer of cheap whitebox Android tablets? Yeah, neither had we, at least until a rumor started circulating that this tiny company would be making the next Nexus tablet. The news began with what's almost certainly a faked Geekbench screenshot showing a "Nexus 8" running on a "Colorfly Hero" motherboard, and continued with a couple of photos posted to a Chinese website. He knows how to deal with bogus legal threats. We’re confident he will demonstrate that the threat is without merit.

Please don’t speculate as you’ll possibly be wrong.

Stupid Patent Troll Trolling A Bunch Of App Developers Because It Thinks It Owns The Idea Of Using Phones As Location Beacons

Remote Locator Systems, LLC, a generic company incorporated in East Texas, filed a lawsuit against seven defendants recently for allegedly violating one of its patents. That patent can be found here. They've also filed against Google, Apple, T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T.

The gist is this - some company in the late 90's thought up the idea of equipping an entire hospital with IR receivers and then putting IR blasters on every employee and important piece of equipment. The blasters would send out a unique identifier to the receivers, and the receivers would correspond with locations in the building, and a computer would then record the location of that person or piece of equipment in a database.
