Alright, control freaks (otherwise known as "my people"), this one's for you. FolderSync is a fantastic little app we've just discovered that lets users sync folders between local storage and a number of online storage services. The app supports one- or two-way sync and provides a host of settings to tweak the app to all your sync needs.

Sync can be done on a schedule or when a folder changes. The user can also control how the app handles overwriting old files, whether to delete missing files, syncing of subfolders, and even to utilize MD5 checksums when syncing. The app works over 3G/4G, although this is disabled by default to preserve your precious geebees.

Titanium Backup, a widely popular backup solution for root users, got an update today to version 4.8.4, adding a handful of improvements and functions, not the least of which being support for Box.net backup syncing.

If you're wondering why Box.net support is significant, the reason is this: until now, mobile users have had little use for the cloud service's free 50GB account option, which caps the size of uploads at 100MB, and is only compatible with mobile devices (meaning there's no desktop syncing capability). Integration with an app like Titanium Backup should finally put free Box.net storage to effective use.

Good news for owners of LG Android devices as they have partnered with popular cloud storage provider Box to offer 50GB free storage for personal accounts.

If you wish to claim the 50GB of free storage, simply download the free Box Android app and login before March 31, 2012. The promotion is valid on all LG phones and tablets in the US running Android 2.1 and above. Once claimed, your account will have 50GB of free, secure file storage and sharing forever.

Offering free cloud based storage seems to have become a trend for device manufacturers, as HTC recently partnered with Dropbox to offer 5GB of free storage on all Sense 3.5 handsets.

The official app for Box.net made its entrance into the Android market today, giving you a powerful alternative to Dropbox. While the free service offered by Box.net only offers half as much storage capacity as Dropbox (1GB), the Business offering ($15/mo) gives you a litany of awesome features that Dropbox just can't touch.
