With Ice Cream Sandwich on the horizon, we at AP thought it would be a good idea to give you a roundup of what Google's been cooking up in Building 44. We actually know a good deal about the future of Android; I'm talking real, solid facts. These are features Android engineers have demoed or talked about, and acquisitions Google has made related to Android technology. We even have pretty clear timelines for most of them. A quick note before we get started: most of these videos are like, an hour long -- you're only expected to watch about 30 seconds of them, so pause whenever it gets boring.

Google Acquires BlindType

Have you been wondering what happened to BlindType, the creator of the keyboard that showed us all what a real onscreen keyboard should be like? Well, it turns out that they have been in top secret negotiations with the big dog himself, Google, because today BlindType announced that they have been acquired by our favorite friends in Mountainview - you know, the ones whose name rhymes with 'boogle'.

We are excited to announce that BlindType has been acquired by Google!

BlindType Keyboard To Come To Android - Type Anywhere On Your Phone's Screen, Even With No Keyboard Present

In a market that is rapidly becoming saturated, we have yet another entry. BlindType is a replacement software keyboard, but it’s one with a little twist. As the name might suggest, BlindType seeks to remove the visual aspect of typing on your smartphone’s software keyboard. Know the QWERTY layout by heart? This keyboard is for you.

Irrespective of where you tap on the screen, BlindType can figure out where on the keyboard you meant to hit by comparing the positions of your previous keypresses. Even if you shift your typing up an entire row of keys, BlindType will (probably) adapt and adjust to accommodate you.
