Were you upset that CyanogenMod changed its boot animation for CM12 (based on Lollipop) to a blinding white flash of branding brilliance? Then you really need to find better things to be upset about. Even so, it looks like the nightly builds released just a few days later have adjusted the boot animation once again, bringing it back to a more sober black. Here it is, for your viewing pleasure: Read More

Samsung announced a couple days ago that the gold Galaxy S5 will come to all major US carriers by May 30th, but the phone has already popped up on AT&T's site. There it goes for $199.99 with a two-year contract, various monthly payments with an AT&T Next plan, or $649.99 outright. The name, Copper Gold, sounds like a currency stuck somewhere between a penny and something of actual value*, but it describes the color well. Read More
Since officially announcing the OnePlus One late last month, OnePlus has found that people were far more interested in the 64GB version of its phone than the smaller, 16GB option. This has led the company to re-evaluate its priorities. Now instead of rushing to get the 16GB Silk White option out as early as possible, it is pushing production back in favor of getting the 64GB Sandstone Black model out sooner. Read More
Update: One commenter noticed that the new colors of the DROID MAXX have 16GB of storage, not 32GB like the original matte version. For shame, Verizon/Moto, especially since the MAXX has no microSD card slot. Thanks, Jason Stanton!
When Verizon launched the latest generation of Motorola DROID phones back in August, the long-lasting DROID MAXX was only offered in a matte black color. It seems a little belated, but as of today Verizon is selling the Moto flagship in two new color options: glossy red, and matte black with new silver trim on the speaker grille, Motorola badge, power button, and volume rocker. The Galaxy S4 is nearly a year old now, but that doesn't mean Samsung's done releasing new variations of it. Samsung has become that one friend you've got who suddenly decides he wears a fedora. No matter how many times you tell him that he looks less like a debonair time traveler than a guy who raided his grandfather's closet, he just won't take it off. Russian blog Hi-Tech Mail spotted the new Galaxy S4 'Black Edition' on Samsung's Russian page this morning, and a similar variant of the S4 Mini was later found. Read More
Carbon is back, Twitter addicts, and it is indeed back in black. The 2.0 revision of the popular Twitter client is like the all-black Charger with tinted windows and zero badges - it's so nondescript that you just can't help but notice it. The updated app is live in the Play Store now, and the token issues that plagued the initial release seem to be absent, at least for the moment. Read More
In our review of the Motorola DROID Ultra, we labeled it a phone in search of an audience. Still, if you like the Moto X but prefer capacitive navigation buttons, or you like the larger display that the DROID Ultra offers, then maybe this phone is for you. If this is the case, listen up. Amazon has dropped the price of the handset down to $99.99 with a new two-year contract, a full $100 off the normal price, and they're offering it in black and red. Read More
HTC's One, the phone that has people once again excited about the
quietly brilliant Taiwanese manufacturer, went on sale around the middle of last month at AT&T, though at the time only its Glacial Silver variant was up for grabs.
Today, AT&T added the Stealth Black HTC One to its stock. For those wondering, yes, the 32GB and 64GB models are both available, for $199.99 and $299.99 respectively (with a two-year contract). Read More
