Xiaomi announces the monstrous Mi Max 2 with a 6.44" screen, 5300mAh battery, and Nougat

Xiaomi is already off to a good start for 2017. The Mi 6 was unveiled a month ago, and now the Chinese manufacturer is back with a successor to last year's Mi Max. Pushing the limits of what one could call a "phone," the Mi Max 2 packs in a massive screen with a huge battery to match. And since this is Xiaomi we're talking about here, affordability is also part of the package.

LG Announces The G Pro Lite, A Cheaper Optimus G Pro That Keeps The Size But Loses The Specs

Don't let the name fool you - the LG G Pro Lite isn't a small phone. This handset has a 5.5-inch screen, a 3,140mAh battery, dual SIM slots, and its own stylus. That means the G Pro Lite is just as large as the Optimus G Pro itself. What makes it "lite" then? The specs. The new handset drops from a quad-core processor to a dual-core processor, and with a 960 x 540 resolution, you can forget watching the 1080p content the original device could handle. 32GB of internal storage has changed into 8GB, and the 2GB of RAM has been sliced in half.

LG Announces International Availability Of The Optimus Vu, In All Of Its Gigantic, Freaky Glory

After an exclusive stint in South Korea and Japan, LG's Optimus Vu is about to take various other parts of the world by storm. Select countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America will be seeing the Vu hit store shelves in September, and I imagine it's going to be pretty hard to miss. It's big. That's the joke.

LG's press release says the Vu "blurs the line" between phones and tablets for a "truly unique experience." I'll certainly buy that. Having used it in early prototype form myself back at MWC, I was baffled at how LG could go about justifying a smartphone like this, and I don't mean one with a 5" screen, but one that has a 4:3 display aspect ratio to go with it.
