Official Pictures And Specs Of The LG Spectrum 2 For Verizon Outed: 4.7" Display, 1.5GHz Dual-Core Snapdragon, And Android 4.0

We actually first heard about the upcoming Spectrum 2 for Verizon back in late August, but we now have full details, along with a couple of images of the device, thanks to Best Buy. The Spectrum 2's page went live at BB just a little while ago, revealing basically everything we didn't already know about the device.

If all these things put you in mind of a new smartphone, then you're a very strange person, and the prime consumer target for the latest flavor of Samsung's Galaxy S III. The "Amber Brown" version of the Galaxy S III is now available directly from Verizon, apparently ready to ship. It's the same price as the white, blue and black models, at $199/$599 for the contract and non-contract versions respectively, in 16GB capacity only.

New Kindles Available For Pre-Order From Best Buy, In Case You Prefer Brick And Mortar Instead Of Smiling Boxes

Yesterday, Amazon made waves by announcing what experts are calling "a bajillion new Kindles." Pre-orders went live yesterday from Amazon, but if you'd rather pick yours up from a store like they used to do when your parents were kids, Best Buy is now offering you that chance. You will have to give up that cardboard grin, though:

All of the new Kindles will be available for pre-order, including the non-Androidy ones. Here's a list of which devices will be available when:

  • September 14: Kindle e-reader ($69), updated Kindle Fire ($159), 7" Kindle Fire HD ($199
  • October: Kindle Paperwhite ($119, $179 for 3G)
  • "Before Christmas": 8.9" Kindle Fire HD ($299), Kindle Fire HD LTE ($499)

It's a little unnerving that Best Buy is using the "before Christmas" language, when Amazon stated that orders would ship on November 20th for some of the late-bloomers among yesterday's announcements.

Lenovo Quietly Launches IdeaTab A2109 At Best Buy, Offers Nine Inches Of Tegra 3 For $300

Lenovo, the company best known for making some pretty sweet laptops and violating the seventh commandment, has released the IdeaTab A2109 at Best Buy. This 9" slate packs a 1.2GHz Tegra 3 processor, a 1280x800 display, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. At $300, this tablet is just barely more expensive than the comparable 16GB Nexus 7. For your extra $50 you not only get a bigger screen, but a rear facing camera and HDMI output. Not bad.

The A2109 ships with Ice Cream Sandwich on board. No word yet on if a Jelly Bean update is in the works.

Yesterday, a rumor at the Wall Street Journal stated that major retailers like Walmart, Target, and 7-Eleven were in the process of teaming up to create their own mobile payment solution. They sure didn't waste much time on making it official, as this morning that solution was announced as "MCX" - or, Merchant Customer Exchange. Sexy.

This is a big deal, though. And it's a big deal because of the names in the headline above - quite literally most places where Americans buy things have come together to create a mobile wallet system. But it's not just Target, Walmart, and Best Buy.

Update: If you have some sort of unholy vendetta against Best Buy and refuse to order anything from there, you'll be glad to know that Amazon now has the same deal. Both white and black versions of the Atrix HD are now $50 for new and existing customers.

You can pick up the 4.5-inch, 1.5Ghz dual-core ICS phone for just $49.99 online. The sober black ("titanium") version is in stock, but the white version going for the same price is not.
