Back around the time of the Galaxy Nexus, I recall a counter-culture developing, calling for an end to the insanity of oversized phones with screens as big as 4.7 inches. They wanted a smaller alternative, built for human hands and human pockets. While the itty bitty smartphone committee might have lost the good fight in a general sense, they now have a few more options, including the Xperia X Compact. Its screen is only 4.6 inches. Hey, it's the principle that counts. Read More
After the flurry of activity in the last few weeks, deal alerts seem few and far between these days. I am always thankful to see sales on toys and gadgets, especially when they include crucial items that bring all of the things together, like routers. If you're looking to boost your home network setup, then Best Buy has a deal for you. You can get the Asus OnHub router for $99.99, a huge savings of $92. Read More
Motorola took a leap with the Moto Z this year by focusing on the modular accessories known as Mods. That meant a few design sacrifices had to be made, including a small-ish battery on the Moto Z and a non-ergonomic flat back panel. I don't think these phones stand up to the competition at full price, but at half price or free, it's hard to complain. That's the deal at Best Buy right now for the Verizon-branded versions. NVIDIA's hot new Shield TV hasn't officially been released yet, but Best Buy apparently didn't get the memo. Although the Best Buy online listings for the Shield TV and Shield TV Pro only allow you to pre-order, some stores actually have the base model on shelves. One tipster was able to purchase one from his local store, as seen from the pictures and receipt below. Read More
Even though I own a Moto Z, I must admit that it isn't exactly the most compelling flagship offering out there. Not only does it lack a headphone jack and have terrible battery life because it's so damn thin, it's priced at an astronomically high $699.99 (though, to be fair, it can be found for sale at a much lower price).
The Moto Z Play, on the other hand, is an entirely different story. As Ryan found, it corrects most of the Moto Z's shortcomings, while managing to come in at a much lower MSRP of $449.99. Now, with discounts of $50 on new units and $110 on slightly used ones, there's never been a better time to pick a Z Play up. Read More
Even in the midst of CES, there are still deals to be found. This one is from Best Buy, which has the unlocked 64GB Moto X Pure Edition on sale for $249.99. That is a respectable savings of $150 for a decent phone by today's standards. Even though it may not run circles around the best of yesteryear, this is still a good deal. Read More
If you've been shopping for a Google Wifi (or three) lately, it's hard not to notice that all of the direct sales avenues have either been sold out or priced so far above MSRP that you'd think they were scalping playoff tickets. Fortunately, this drought couldn't last forever – Best Buy currently has both single and 3-packs of the mesh wireless router available at regular prices with fast shipping or in-store pickup.
The 3-packs are gone
Holy cow, that didn't last long. About an hour after this post went live, Best Buy ran out of 3-packs. Read More
The post-Christmas deals are rolling in, this time with a best-we've-seen-it price on the LG G5. If you're on Verizon, Sprint, or AT&T, Best Buy has a carrier-branded model available for you with free shipping or store pickup in the US. On Black Friday, we told you about a $400 deal for this phone, but now it's another $50 cheaper than that. Read More
Verizon had a killer deal on the Pixel and Pixel XL for Black Friday, and now Best Buy is running an even better version of the promotion. Pick up a Pixel from Best Buy, and you can get it for as little as $10 per month. They'll also throw in a $100 Best Buy gift card for your trouble. There wasn't a gift card included with the Verizon deal on Black Friday. Read More
